6/5/18 - Drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 4th Round, 129th Overall.
5/16/18 - Athletic build, sloped shoulders, trim waist. Business-like mound presence with high confidence, controls the game, tactical one pitch at a time approach. Doesn’t get flustered by baserunners, stays composed, ability to squelch potential rally innings by continually attacking the zone. Good athleticism, active athlete around the mound, gets off the mound, backs up bases and picks, 1.15-1.25 to the plate out of the stretch, uses slide step. Delivery presets post leg, small rocker into medium leg lift, high front side, head gets over heels at times, lands to ball of foot, closed toe. Arm action is long and firm, over the top slot, slight plunge into windmill action. Gets on top of the baseball and works downhill, creates tilt on fastball, gets tilt over action, mostly straight, showed control in this outing, command potential guy, lived in the middle third a lot and found some barrels. Up to a few 93 mph in the first, sitting 90-92 mph, lived at 90-91 throughout outing with easy effort. Curveball ranged 72-77 mph, 11/5 action, occasional 12/6, got more swing and miss with it later in his outing. Went to changeup more after second and third time through the order, 83-85 mph, fade and deceptive arm action, showed control. Overall showed three pitch feel and control of the zone, could see him being a command guy but in this outing was in the middle third more than he would have liked. Composure and lack of free passes allowed him to survive to a final line of 6IP, 10H, 3R, 0BB, 5K. Projects as a competitive back-end starter that will keep his team in ball games with composure and a relentless attack of the strike zone.
