FR RHP Shaylen Patel (Niles West) is an arm to dream on with an athletic 6-foot-3, 140-pound frame with plenty of room to add. It’s a repeatable operation with some intent from a clean compact arm swing into a ¾ slot. Fastball lived in the 84-86 mph range with some ASR and an event best average spin rate of 2484 RPMs while averaging 21” of IVB. Slider takes a short left-turn at 78-81 mph and the changeup is a clear out pitch in the 78-80 mph range with (2nd in the event) 16.7” of HM on avg. The stuff should really start to tick up within the next two years with the Hawks and warrants a close follow throughout his junior college career.
