Bays has hit in every look we’ve had this season and showed off one of the top overall hit-tools at TPG. An athletic, 6-foot, 190 pounder with strength - Bays uses a small, toe-tap stride with a controlled load that allows him to create explosive bat speed in a tight window. The bat speed allows Bays to really impact the baseball (98+ EV) and his above-average foot-speed (6.93) only adds to his exciting offensive profile. In the infield, Bays offers big arm strength across the diamond (88 mph) to go along with instincts on the dirt.

Body: 5-11, 185-pounds. Strong, broad shouldered frame
Delivery: Slow tempo delivery w/ slight drop and drive. Tall inward turn followed by an aggresive move down the mound. High effort
Arm Action: RH. Compact arm action - pitches at a H 3/4 slot.
FB: T88, 85-88 mph. Avg FB command - shows life T2685, 2509 average rpm.
SL: 71-73 mph. True SL shape - wipeout at times T2709, 2612 average rpm.
CH: 77-80 mph. T1994, 1928 average rpm.

Position Profile: SS/RHP 
Body: 5-11, 185-pounds. Strong, broad shouldered frame
Hit: RHH. Anchored back leg in the setup. Controlled, toe tap type stride w/ compact upper body load. Bat strength present, short aggressive swing, flashed power potential.
Power: 98 max exit velocity, averaged 89.2 mph. 312' max distance. 
Arm: RH. INF-88 mph.Quick arm from H 3/4 slot. Very good arm strength.
Defense: Controlled footwork. Tends to field the ball deep - 3B type.
Run: 7.12 runner in the 60.

Position: SS/RHP

Body: 5-foot-11, 185-pound solid build.

Hit: (Switch) Solid. Begins in a balanced stance with a smooth load, then uses a toe tap stride. Explosive bat speed. Balanced finish, upward swing. Pull side approach.

Power: 95 mph exit velocity, average 80.0 mph. 73.0 mph bat speed average. 21.3 mph hand speed average.

Defense:  (IF) Sure hands, clean exchange. Solid. 

Arm: 86 mph infield velocity. Short quick arm action. 

Speed: 7.30 (60-yard).

Pitching: Solid. Up-tempo delivery, high effort. High ¾ arm angle, good arm speed, short arm action. 

FB: 84-85 mph. (Max spin 2574;  Avg 2459). Arm side accuracy. 

CB: 74-77 mph. Tight action, sharp movement. (Max spin 2897; Avg 2435). 

Chase Bays, Marian, 2024, MI

Position: SS/RHP

Body: 5-foot-10, 155-pound slim frame.

Hit: (Switch) Begins in a quiet stance with a low load, then uses a small leg kick. Quick bat speed. Front foot finish, level swing. Line drive approach.

Power: 85 mph exit velocity.

Defense:  (IF) Hard hands, developing footwork, natural exchange. Confident.  Fields the ball to the side movements laterally were late.

Arm: 81 mph infield velocity. Loose arm action, ¾ slot, some accuracy.

Speed: 7.33

Chase Bays: SS/RHP, (2024) Edwardsburg, MI. 5-foot-8, 152-pound. In the box, the switch hitter had an exit velocity of 83 mph. In the 60-yard dash, his time was 7.53. On the mound, produced a fastball that came in at 76-78 mph with a max of 79 mph. Curveball (65-68 mph).

Pitching: On the mound works on the far right side of the rubber with a small delay in his motion as he heads towards the plate. High leg kick with a 3/4 arm action. Plus changeup that has a slight break towards the end. 

Hitting: An advanced approach at the plate shows a smooth stroke and quick hands. Barrels the ball up at the plate showing a polished swing. 

Fielding: Smooth actions in the field. Showed soft hands and ranged well in the field. Gets rid of the ball swiftly. High follow.
