3/30/18 Spring Scout Blog: Uncommitted, 6-foot-8 LHP in the 2020 class made his first relief appearance of the season, coming in and throwing 2 2/3 innings out of bullpen, striking out 6, not allowing a hit, walking 5 and allowing 1ER. Command was an issue early before settling in and getting in good rhythm, repeating delivery and release point. Struggled to repeat delivery and release early, falling behind and hitting or walking hitters. Has mound presence, projectable on the bump, still more work to polish delivery and pitches. Fastball was 82-83, natural downhill plane, flattens out at the top of the zone at times, more velo in the tank. Flashed sharp 12/6 breaking ball, chance to be good pitch when thrown with arm speed, 67-68 downward action, got strikeouts with pitch. #11 ranked player in 2020 state class, interesting follow.
6/13/17: 6-foot-8, 240 pound first baseman has pull side power from a long, uphill left-handed swing. Average use of lower half. Tends to pull off. High exit velocity of 93mph. Left-handed pitcher sat 77-79 with erratic command, often missing high. Raw movements from a big frame that can be cleaned up as he matures. Has some rhythm, but foot strike and finish are inconsistent. Breaking ball has 1/7 shape with gradual break at 63-66. Change-up sat 72-73 with some fade.
7/27/16: The 6 foot 7 230 pound left handed pitcher has a huge frame for his age. Bat speed is fast. He has an open setup with a long stride. Showcases pull side pop. Exit velocity topped at 91. On the mound, fastball sat 78-80 touching 83 with slight run in game. 2-seam FB sat more 74-76 with more run. Breaking ball was erratic, but mixed in a few with 1/7 shape and gradual break. Change-up is best off-speed pitch right now with late sink. Colin has a drop and drive delivery with a loose arm action. Maintains good rhythm with some effort. At 1B, hands are average with a clean exchange. Throws topped at 80 across the infield.
6.8.16 - 6-foot-4, 190-pound left-handed pitcher with an XL frame. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle with a short, quick arm action. Tall and fall, online delivery with a square landing. Fastball was firm at 77-79 mph. Curveball has 2-8 shape with tight rotation and late action at 58-61 mph. Maintained fastball arm speed on changeup at 67-70 mph.
2.21.16: Projectable 6-foot-4, 190 pounder pitches from a long, high 3/4 arm action with quick arm speed. Easy effort with smooth rhythm in the delivery. Clean arm action. Fastball was thrown for a strike at 78-79, touching 81. Breaking ball was a 2/8 shape with an early hump at 56-59. Changeup was thrown with fastball arm speed shwoing occasional sink at 62-65. High follow 2020.
