Young-for-class athlete with a 6-foot-3, 200-pound frame that has added noticeable strength. Moved with the familiar drop&drive patterns we've seen in the past with an OTT slot coming from a lower release height. Fastball played 86-88.4 with cut/ride shape and feel, chance for more. Two distinct breaking ball shapes; gyro slider at 75-78 and mid-70s CB with top-down shape. Both breaking balls flash sharp break, also controlled at 78-80 change for true four-pitch mix. The velocity has jumped, and the athleticism, control, and arsenal allow for starters' projections.

RHP Gavin Markus (Greenfield-Central) dazzled with a starters' look & filled the zone. His 85-87 fastball can be carried, or manipulated to create arm-side sink. His 76-78 curveball works off the 4S fastball and plays w shorter, tight, two-plane shape. The slider is his best pitch presently, spinning at 75-76 w sweep & wipeout potential. His 77-80 mph change is sold w fastball intent and falls off the table late. Markus is uber-athletic with a 6-foot-3, 180 pound frame to bet on. He reminds me in several ways of Aiden Smith, a 2026 grad commited to Kentucky.

Another top-ranked arm in the freshman class, Markus took a break from the hardwood to toss a low-effort bullpen with his fastball working at 82-84 mph. Looking the part of a future-starter, Markus is a twitchy mover with athleticism in his 6-foot-2, 160 pound frame. Markus has ample room for added strength, which will allow the fastball velocity to sky-rocket, and his arm works quick and freely to a 3/4 arm angle. Markus spins one of the best breaking balls in the class, a tight, 72-73 mph curveball that shows two-plane shape. He rounded out his three-pitch mix with a 75-77 mph changeup.

Defense: Athletic footwork w/ a quick exchange. Soft hands w/ some lateral quickness.

FB: T82, 80-82 mph. Solid FB command, some ASR T1902, 1687 average rpm.
CB: 69-70 mph. Flashes sharp action, inconsistent command - potential T1878, 1772 average rpm.
SL: 69-69 mph. Very simliar to CB - sharp at times T1895, 1849 average rpm.
