Indiana State commit. Large frame, strong physical athlete with strength through his legs and hips. Very sturdy look. Has ¾-arm slot that starts from the middle of the rubber. Shows a solid loose firm shoulder range of motion. Gets good extension out in front of body on finish. Displays some length to his arm and delivery, as he is a large frame agile athlete. Key to his success is that he shows signs of gaining timing and rhythm to his arm as his lead leg strikes the landing. McEwen is a strong athlete which can project to continue on progress in all areas, as his projection helps his velocity and pitch command of all pitches. His CB has good spin and shape with consistent speed; while his straight change gives some run and finish in the zone. The effort is positive and gives a look of an innings eater with durability.

6-foot-2, 190-pound. On the mound, has a high ¾ arm angle and quick arm speed. Up-temp type pitcher who shows max effort. Showed an athletic balance point. Lands square. Changeup (74-76 mph).Produced a fastball that came in at 86-88 mph with a max of 89 mph; had tailing action. Developing 10/4 curveball (66-68).



6-foot-2, 173-pound 2B / RHP. At the plate, starts with feet even; uses a high elbow for power and short, choppy rhythm in his hands. Has a big load, an even swing plane and a level finish; 80 mph exit velocity. Showed raw actions in the field; got to all balls and fielded cleanly; has a 3/4 arm slot; 82 mph position velocity. On the mound, has a slow motion and long arm action; stayed on top of the ball well; 76-80 mph FB. CB pops out of his hand; has depth when he stays on top; 61-63 mph CB; 72-75 mph CH. Kept hitters off balance in the game by mixing up pitches well and locating all over the strike zone. Recorded a 60 time of 7.88.


6-foot-2, 173-pound 3B / RHP. Well-rounded player. At the plate, has a balanced stance, high elbow and leg kick. Shows clear separation and load but loses balance through finish; 82 mph exit velocity. Works through the ball well in the field and shows good glove work; average side to side movement; 80 mph position velocity. On the mound, has over the top angle, long and quick arm action, average effort. Stays top of FB well; 81-82 mph FB. Sometimes has trouble staying on top of off speed; 65-67 mph CB; 72-76 mph CH. Recorded 60 time of 7.96.

7/24/18: 2022 3B/RHP hits from the right side. Uses tall setup in the box. Leg lift trigger with bat dropping and barrel being flat through the zone. Showed opposite field ability in BP. Posted an exit velo of 79. In the field showed soft hands with some fluidness to his footwork. Exchange was clean and arm strength was 74 across the diamond. On the mound pitches from high ¾ arm slot. Short leg lift to initiate delivery and quick step to the plate. Stays tall throughout delivery. Arm action is short. FB sat 74-77 T79. CB showed gradual break at 61-64.
