5/21/16 Game Notes: Butler commit performed well in a 4-0 victory over South Dearborn Saturday. In 6IP had 6Ks allowing just 3H and none earned. Fastball was 87-90 in the first three innings with hard run and down. Did have some command issues later in the game, but all 10 balls put in play were groundballs. Breaking ball not needed often but was 74-76 with late break.

3/31/15 GAME NOTES:
In 1 inning, Ryan sat 86-88 and touched 89.  He struggled to command the FB.  FB is heavy with sink.  His CB was 71-72 and has late, 11/5 tilt.  He did strike out every out despite giving up a run.  At the plate, he flew out twice.  Bat speed is there.  Swing path is long.  Good backside and extension.  At SS, he showcases average hands and footwork.  Arm strength is above average.  More of a corner infielder.

Fall 2014:

6-foot-2, 190 pound RHP with a long 3/4 arm delivery.  Fastball shows heavy downhill plane.  Up to 91 with his fastball this fall.  Sits in the 86-89 range.  Breaking ball is 74-76 with late break.  Effective changeup at 78-80 mph.  Throws all pitches for a strike.  Also starting QB for HS football team.

6/25/14:
6 foot-2 inches/190 pounds, On the mound he has a long ¾ arm delivery and he misses bats. His fastball is 82-84mph with heavy downhill plain and in the strike zone, slider is 71-72mph late break, change is effective at 77-79 with some sink and deception. Throw all three pitches for strikes. Defensively he has average hands, good feet and solid transfer. He has a balanced stance with a long stride with a fast bat and good extension through contact. Will hit for power and average.

6/11/14:
6-foot-2, 190 pound 2016 possesses a strong, athletic frame.   Has the ability to play multiple positions on the field. In the INF  possesses above average hands with good footwork.  Plays through the baseball and showcased a live arm across the diamond at 81 mph; projects as a 3B.  As a catcher was 1.98-2.10 with his pop times, 77 mph from the crouch.  On the mound sat 85-86 with the fastball, touching 87.  FB shows run and was consistently in the zone.  12/6 breaking ball sat 74-76 with a sharp break.  Pitches from a high ¾ slot with quick arm speed.  Easy effort. Gets downward leverage.  Offensively starts slightly open, stride is short.  Above average bat speed.  Possesses pull side power.  Hands work and gets to extension.

4/12/19: Durable bodied at 6-foot-3, 215 pounds, Pepiot has a mechanically sound delivery with good arm action. Lands 6" cross-body, creating some angle to the plate, but this does not inhibit the extension on an above average spin rate fastball (2200-2400 rpm). Worked at 90-93 mph with below average life on this look. Touched 94 one time, his 102nd pitch in the 7th inning. Best pitch was a plus to plus-plus, at times, circle change at 81-84 mph. Threw it in any count with fastball arm speed. He manipulated the movement and located the pitch very well to his gloveside, showing three-quarter slider-like action. When thrown to his arm side the pitch was straight and had the look of a back-up slider. His curveball is a major weapon as well, showing very high spin rates (2700-2900 rpm) with good depth and late action at 75-77 mph. Likely a future plus pitch at the pro level. Also mixed in an occasional slider at 80-81 mph, which could be mistaken for his armside CH at times. Overall, Pepiot showed high pitchability working in/out, up/down and back/forth with distinct velocity bands on his FB, CB and CH. With a starter-type delivery, arm action, size, athleticism and arsenal, Pepiot profiles as a starting pitcher in professional baseball. He is a bright spot in an otherwise weak college class for future starting pitchers. (Seifert)

9/16/18: Butler intrasquad: FB 90-92, spin rate 2400-2500. SL 82-83, flashed average, too many flat through the zone. CB 75 spin rate 2800+, most showed good depth. Mainly overpowered with FB while mixing in several SL although CB was the best of his secondary offerings on this look. Solid delivery. Chance to start with improved FB command. Had the look of a potential mid-Day Two draft pick on this two-inning look. (Seifert)

8/15/18Six-foot-three, 210 pounds. Strength throughout his frame. Wide upper body. Powerful, athletic actions. Quick, clean arm. Aggressive, upright finish with balanced delivery. Fastball shows life at 90-91 mph, especially when working to his armside. Also mixed in curveball at 78-80 and changeup at 81-82. Throws everything with intent. Competitive demeanor. Understands how to utilize all of his offerings. Used primarily in a relief role this summer, most likely to monitor innings after breakout sophomore season as a starter at Butler. Pepiot should be one of the top arms in the Big East once again in 2019. (D Jurik)
