5/26/16 Game Notes: Indiana commit and the state's number 2 ranked player lived up to his billing in the opening round of sectionals. It started a bit shaky as the first three hitters all reached on elevated fastballs, but those were the only three hits surrendered by Szynski on the night. The righty went 6IP with 3H and 7Ks on way to a 10-0 victory. First inning fastball was 91-92 up with some command issues. Breaking ball was a power slider with late, sharp action and thrown with FB arm speed. Slider velo was 76-81 throughout the night. Second inning fastball touched 93 multiple times and at the knees with improved command. Fourth and fifth inning saw FB velocity sit 90-91. On the night Szynski threw 48 of 60 pitches for strikes.Indiana commit and the state's number 2 ranked player lived up to his billing in the opening round of sectionals. 3/30/16 Game Notes: In front of dozens of scouts, the Indiana recruit was impressive in his season debut pitching five dominant innings in Penn's 8-1 victory over Northridge. He finished his night with 11 strikeouts, 0 walks, 2 hits and 1 run (unearned). The fastball was a consistent 90-91 through his first three innings of work, bumping a 92 and a 93 in the first. More impressive was his ability to throw his two off-speed pitches for a strike, consistently getting hitters to swing and miss. The breaking ball which was anywhere from 78-80 was kept in the zone with sharp late bite. He flashed several changeups at 84-86 with good movement. The right-hander pitches from a clean, athletic high-3/4 slot and works at a confident, quick pace. October 2015:
Szynski delivered the best pitching performance I witnessed on the day, throwing three dominant scoreless innings during the Reds Scout Team’s blowout 10-0 victory over the Texas Sun Devils. Szynski’s fastball sat 92-93 mph, and topped at 94 in each of his three innings.
More importantly, he pounded the lower half of the strike zone from a clean, athletic high-3/4 slot. His fastball had late arm-side finish as he worked at a confident, quick pace. Although he didn’t need it much, he flashed a few 78-80 mph curveballs that flashed sharp late bite.
In three innings, the Indiana recruit allowed one hit, struck out five and walked none. Perhaps the most impressive statistic was he threw 31 of his 37 pitches for strikes. In the spring, Szynski helped lead Penn HS to the 4A state championship, and at a past PBR event, he ran a 6.87 60.
Summer 2015: Fastball continues to jump. Up to 95 at East Coast Pro, sitting 92-93.
8/27/14 Future Games: Ranked sixth in Indiana’s 2016 class and 32nd overall, Szynski recently announced his verbal commitment to Indiana. The 6-foot-2, 195-pound righty was impressive at this year’s Future Games with a fastball up to 92 mph. On the mound he shows easy effort with an electric arm. The curveball is still in the developmental stage, but he did flash a couple at 73-76 mph with depth. He also has ability as a position player and ran a 6.87-second 60 while showing a quick bat from the left side.
6/25/14: 6 foot-2 inches/195 pounds, L/R, Strong , athletic player with wide shoulders and narrow hips. He is a high school two way guy that will be a pitcher at the next level. Fastball was 88-90 with an easy ¾ arm delivery. Ball jumps out of his hand and has downhill plain and is consistently in the strike zone. He has a sweeping slider (70-72mph) , and a serviceable changeup . At the plate he has short, compact swing and he squares up pitches.
