2/22/14: 6-foot-4, 190 pound athletic junior recently committed to Ohio State. Frame is athletic, strong and very projectable. Young continues to improve his arm strength in the field where he was 76 mph across the diamond with carry. Works well around the bag with soft hands and quick feet. Offensively starts wide with a short stride. Strides early and loads back.Bat speed is quick and gets to extension. Produced an exit velo of 90 mph. Gap-to-gap power. Ran a 7.11 60 at the event, but have had him as low as 6.92.

7/10/13:
Young is a projectable 2015. He is 6-foot-3, 185 pounds and runs a 6.92 60.  Works well around the bag at first, fielding it cleanly with accurate throws  across the diamond (76 mph).  At the plate produced an exit velo of 90 mph.  Has present bat speed and projectable power.  Starts with a wide base and uses a long toe tap/leg kick for timing and displays good balance throughout his swing.  Gets to extension with the ability to drive the gaps.  Young is a high follow in the 2015 class. 

5/15/13: Young is the son of former Major League player Dmitri Young. Owen possesses good size, with a tall, athletic projectable frame.  Possesses good strength. Moves well in the field with an above average glove.  Actions are still a little raw.  Throws from a 3/4 to low 3/4 arm slot with some accuracy.  At the plate displays quick bat speed.  Starts with a wide base with his hands high, and a high back elbow with a bat waggle. Uses a long toe tap.  Good barrel whip.
