Hitting at the top of a loaded Building Champions’ lineup, Shinkle’s table-setter type profile from the left side is certainly one that most people would covet. It’s a short, athletic left-handed stroke with barrel control and line drive feel with advanced bat-to-ball skills at the plate. Shinkle’s a quality athlete, who ran a 6.85 60-yard dash at an event last summer, that can make an impact defensively in the outfield as well. The Kent State commit was certainly a winner from this weekend.
2/14/21
Positional Profile: 2B
Body: 5-foot-11, 165-pound lean and athletic frame with room to add strength and size in the future.
Hit: LHH. At the plate starts with a slightly open stance and upright posture. Hands get set quietly into position at shoulder height with a high back elbow. Simple stride to slightly closed. Drifts into the front leg and lower half linearly. Shows good barrel control. Pull side approach. Bat speed and hand strength are developing tools and will get better with added size and strength.
Power: 81 mph exit velocity from the tee.
Arm: RH. INF-69 mph. Over the top arm slot with clean arm action and quick hand speed.
Defense: In the infield shows good rhythm and active feet. Clean exchanges. Funnels ball back into the body. Shows good lateral agility.
Run: 4.27 runner from home to first.
