Leonard is a long and lean 6-foot-2 180-pound right-handed hitting third baseman in Kansas’ 2020 class. At the plate, balanced stance, pre-pitch rhythm in hands, hands separate from stride during load, controlled leg lift with in-line stride, has barrel control squaring up ball to pull side gap during hitting evals, high finish in hands. On the infield, 79 mph positional velocity, short high three quarters release, clean arm action, fluid footwork to the allows him to field in an athletic position, clean exchange, mostly accurate throws. On the mound, Leonard has a high three quarters release, controlled leg lift, accelerates in line down the mound, uses lower half well, quick arm speed, fastball at 82-84 mph, late running action, lands curveball for strikes, 12-to-6 late action, occasionally sharp with good feel, 68-70 mph, change up has arm side run, 72-74 mph, works down in the zone, throw with near fastball arm speed, ball stays on a low plane for all pitches.
