2/21/16 - Larson is an athletic 5-foot-11, 160-pound right-handed pitcher and shortstop. Attends Concordia HS in Kansas. Class of 2017. Fast-twitch athlete with arm speed. He ran a 4.20 and has an exit velo of 82 mph. At the plate, balanced stance, reverse toe tap and in line stride, swing produced line drives to middle and pull gap.  On the infield, 76 mph positional velo, short over the top release, quick catch and throw, fluid footwork to the ball, plays through the catch. On the mound his delivery has extra body movement, could simplify to become more consistent. Fastball with arm-side run, 83-86 mph. Breaking ball with 11/5 shape, sharp at times, could develop into a plus pitch, 68-72 mph. Feel for 70-72 mph change-up, strikes, ideal velocity differential between fastball and change-up. Athletic, projectable right-hander with room to fill out physically, add velocity and develop a more consistent delivery (and, therefore, command). One to follow closely in the 2017 class
10/31/15 - Larsen is a 5-foot-11 160-pound right-handed hitting shortstop and right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2017 class.  Larsen ran a 7.60 60 and a 4.63 home-to-first.  At the plate, starts slightly open, uses leg kick, aggressive swing, level to extension, middle to pull line drives in batting practice, 79 mph exit velo.  On the infield, 80 mph positional velo, short over the top release with quick exchange and release, athletic footwork, momentum towards target. Larsen attacked the zone with fastball and curveball, working fastball at 80-83 mph, touching 84 mph one time, late and sharp 11-to-5 breaking ball at 69-72 mph, straight change up at 67-70 mph, throws with some effort, over the top release, aggressive to the plate, athletic finish.
