2/16/18 - Sprague is a well-built 6-foot-1 180-pound left-handed hitting first baseman in Kansas’ 2019 class.  He ran a 4.77 home to first and has an 89 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts with open stance, smooth load to back side with quiet hands, in line stride, feel for the barrel, loose hands, consistent hard contact to the middle and pull side.  On the infield, 82 mph positional velocity, smooth footwork to the ball, soft hands, gains momentum with feet after the catch, soft hands, accurate throws. On the mound, Sprague has an high three quarters arm slot, controlled leg lift with slight rotation at balance point, works from the 1B side of the rubber, hides ball well, accelerates down the mound, has command of three pitches, strike thrower, fastball at 75-77 mph, slight cutting action, works on a downhill plane, 10-to-4 shaped breaking ball, sharp and late, lands for a strike, change up at 71-72 mph, arm side sink, throws with near fastball arm speed.

Sprague is a strike thrower, works mostly fastball and curveball, fastball at 68-71, works both sides of plate, changes planes, breaking ball is 59-61 with 2-to-8 action, he has a conventional delivery, with a coil at balance point, three-quarters release, nothing crosses the middle part of the plate, command makes it hard for hitters to square up ball, pitches to contact with command of both pitches.
