10/19/14 - Hartter is a 5-foot-8, 145-pound switch-hitting catcher and shortstop. He was the starting shortstop for Topeka Seaman’s 5A state tournament team as a freshman. From the left-side has a balanced set-up, open stance, smooth hand load, strides inline, loose hands, maintains balance throughout, middle-oppo approach. Exit velocity high of 73 mph. Hitting right-handed showed a balanced set-up, open stance, strides slightly closed, finishes with extension, aggressive swing. Line drive, slight pull approach. Exit velocity up to 81 mph. In the games, Hartter had an MVP-like performance at the plate going 4-for-4 (two singles, a double and a triple), very aggressive base runner – took the extra base at every opportunity and also stole a base. At shortstop showed sound footwork, clean exchanges, high three-quarters arm action, very solid defender, throwing velocity up to 77 mph. Behind the plate throws had carry, clocked as high as 74 mph, pop times in the 1.95-2.02 range. Ran a 7.64 60-yard dash and 4.51 home-to-first from the left side. Aggressive player with a high motor that has improved in all areas over the last year.
1/4/14 - Hartter is a 5-foot-7, 140-pound switch hitting catcher. Behind the plate he put several throws on the bag with a top velocity of 72 mph and pop time of 2.15 using a fairly loose, short over-the-top throwing motion and fluid footwork. Left-handed he hits with a short stride, right-handed he toe-taps then strides. From both sides of the plate he showed a simple, fluid load and overall good balance. His top exit velocity left-handed was 67 mph, right-handed 73. Being the rare switch-hitting catcher with solid present skills, the undersized Hartter should climb the ladder as he adds size and strength.
