5/13/14 - Butler County CC football/baseball signee Zach Nachbar is a 6-foot-3, 185-pound slender, athletic right handed hitting outfielder and right-handed pitcher. His body has plenty of room to fill out. At the plate, he has fluid swing with surprising pop. His main asset is his speed where he effortlessly glides around the base paths – as you might expect from an all-state wideout. In today’s game he had a double, two triples and an inside the park home run. In the outfield, he was never tested or had a chance to show off his arm. On the mound he predominately throws a fastball and curve. The fastball ranged from 80-83 mph and touched an 85. In the 8th inning, he was still throwing 80-81 mph. His curveball has 11/5 shape and he used it to put batters away with two strikes. He throws from a high 3/4 slot with quite a bit of torque being generated and overall has a simple, repeatable delivery. On the year, Nachbar is hitting .328 with a .552 slugging percentage and has scored 21 runs in 20 games. He has 12 walks, has been hit five times and has only five strikeouts in 77 plate appearances. He also leads South in stolen bases with eight. Pitching-wise he has a 3-1 record, four saves and a 2.46 ERA with 44 strikeouts in 31 innings. Nachbar is a standout football player which is going to be a factor going forward, however when you consider his frame, tools and exceptional athleticism its not outside the box to imagine him being an MLB draft at some point in the future.
