Thompson showed his best velocity to date working 82-85 and touching 86 with arm-side run. The 6-foot-1, 175 pound lefty also showed a late-breaking 76-77 slider and feel for 76-79 chengeup. He has an athletic 6-foot-1, 175 pound frame, and has long/loose arm action and easy velocity suggest there is more velocity coming. One of the top uncommitted LHP's in the 2021 class.
Spin rates: FB up to 2299, Slider up to 2597
6-foot-1, 175-pound lean frame. Projectable. On the
mound, he used a long arm action and a high ¾ angle. He is a slight drop-and-drive type pitcher
who uses normal effort. Has a tall balance point and uphill shoulders. Lands hard with an
athletic finish. His fastball was 83-84 mph. Had a sharp
1/7 curveball (72-73) that showed low in the zone control. His changeup (74-77) shows
sinking action and in the zone control. Occasional cut on the changeup due to getting around it.
Thompson showed an uptick in velocity and his best breaking ball to date which really has swing-and-miss potential. The arrow is pointing up on the intriguing lefty.

2/17/18: 6-foot, 150 pound southpaw has a balanced delivery with good tempo down the mound. Stays in line, lands soft. Lacks front leg extension. Short, loose arm action. Fastball sat 75-77, touching 79. Slider sat 67-69 has 2/8 shape with some late depth at times. Left-handed hitter has an open setup with short stride. Preset hands. Long, level path to contact. Average use of lower half. High exit velocity of 78. Defensively, hands are average with clean transfer. Loose arm action. Throws topped 74 from the outfield.
