+ Miles Halligan (Hopkins HS, MN) is a hulking 6-foot-1, 190-pound prospect who plays with physicality from both the right-handed batter’s box and the mound. Still uncommitted as the No. 9 prospect in Minnesota’s 2020 class, Halligan took the bump on Sunday for the Mariners Midwest Scout Team against a talented Chicago Scouts Association lineup. He creates easy downhill tilt with his heavy fastball released from an over-the-top arm slot, which sat 86-88 mph in his first couple frames of work. Halligan also utilizes a couple different breaking balls, a curveball and slider, both of which he has a feel to spin. His over-the-top slot helps generate hard downer action on his 12/6 curve, 70-71 mph. His slider also flashes sharp, late break 77-78 mph.
