Pitching was a strength on Sunday, as 10 different players reached 85 mph or higher with their fastballs. RHP John-Paul Sauer (Jackson, 2024), who’s one of the state’s top uncommitted sophomores, led the entire event with a 90 mph max, sitting at 88-90 mph throughout his ‘pen. LHP Dax Dunnill (Edwardsville, 2025; IL) touched 86 mph from the left side on his final bullet, while RHP Kaden Durnin (Camdenton, 2024) and LHP Charlie Kilcullin (St. Dominic, 2024) did the same, each of them emerging as uncommitted follows in the state’s sophomore class.
Positional Profile: RHP/INF
Body: 6-2, 180-pounds. Athletic and projectable build with room for added strength in the future.
Hit: RHH. Starts with an open stance and upright posture with hands getting set below shoulder height. Strong rocking load into the inner half of the back knee. High leg kick stride with good balance and rhythm. Lower half works linearly through the zone into a firm front leg. Works from a low hand set with a slightly uphill bat path. Strong rotation around the core. Hands work rotationally through the zone and shows good overall bat speed for class.
Power: 91 max exit velocity, averaged 82.1 mph. 307’ max distance.
Arm: RH. INF - 87 mph. High 3/4 arm slot with a loose arm action.
Defense: Attacks the ball with shorter strides and controlled footwork. Fields the ball out in front of the body with soft hands and a feel for glove action. Shows the ability to change arm actions when the play dictates. Clean exchanges out of the glove.
Run: 7.00 runner in the 60.
Delivery: Quick and simple footwork around the rubber with pivot foot sliding into place. Works to a high balance point with a strong weight stack onto the back leg and good posture in the upper body. Works to a low glove front side. Starts on the first base side of the rubber and strides directionally down the center of the mound with good momentum headed towards the plate. A tall and fall style motion down the mound using the slope to help with tilt. Repeats mechanics and tempo well with good balance throughout the delivery.
Arm Action: RH. High 3/4 arm slot with a short and quick arm action.
FB: T88.4, 86.7-88.0 mph. Mostly straight shape with good riding life through the zone. T2116, 2012 average rpm.
CB: 68.2-69.0 mph. Short and tight shape on 11/5 break with good spin. T2241, 2191 average rpm.
CH: 75.5-77.0 mph. Very good sell with fastball hand speed. Has good arm side fading action. T1792, 1659 average rpm.
Young, long-limbed 5-foot-11, 160-pound infielder with room to add size and strength as he matures. The right-handed hitter sets up in a tall stance with a leg lift into a full body load and stride. Flat bat path through the zone with some hand quickness. Consistent line-drive contact to his mid/pull side, recording an 80 mph bat-exit velocity. Ran a 7.48 60-yard dash. In the infield, shows sure hands with developing footwork. Made 74 mph throws from a short ¾ arm action.
On the mound, the high-waisted right-handed pitcher delivers from a repeatable tall-and-fall delivery out of the wind-up. Square shoulders and landing with tall finish at times. Throws from a long ¾ arm action. Fastball sat 71-74 mph with arm-side run. Curveball sat 58-59 mph with big 11/5 break. Changeup showed heavy action with fade and sink, 65-68 mph.
