Uncommitted, ranked No. 128 overall in the state’s current junior class. Physical 6-foot-3, 200-pound athlete that really looks the part in a uniform. Entered in relief for Edwardsville in a win, punching out two with one walk and no hits in his one inning stint. Tough look for opposing hitters, gets onto his backside and squares his shoulders to first base to hide the baseball. Lead leg swings to footstrike, finishes with intent through his lead leg and drifts towards the third base side after release. Short compact arm stroke, finishes from a loose and clean ¾ slot. Fastball touched 90, pitching at 86-89 mph, played down in the zone and for strikes. A high-ceiling arm that’s still fully harnessing the power stuff he has on the mound.

LHP/1B Dax Dunnill (Edwardsville, IL, 2025) was unquestionably one of the biggest winners from Sunday’s event, particularly on the mound. Plenty physical with room for more at 6-foot-3, 200-pounds, Dunnill’s arm plays loose and creates easier velocity than we’d seen from him in the past from a ¾ slot. His fastball showed late run and in the zone for strikes at 87-90 mph with room to continue to tack on velocity over the next few months. The separator for Dunnill was his tight slider with gyro spin at 75-77 mph that paired well off his fastball, flashing swing-and-miss potential at the next level. At the plate, Dunnill’s left-handed swing showed more juice than we’d seen from him previously, barreling his firmest ball at 98.1 mph. Following a productive winter, Dunnill is certainly an uncommitted southpaw to follow into the spring for this year’s Tigers’ squad.

Pitching was a strength on Sunday, as 10 different players reached 85 mph or higher with their fastballs. RHP John-Paul Sauer (Jackson, 2024), who’s one of the state’s top uncommitted sophomores, led the entire event with a 90 mph max, sitting at 88-90 mph throughout his ‘pen. LHP Dax Dunnill (Edwardsville, 2025; IL) touched 86 mph from the left side on his final bullet, while RHP Kaden Durnin (Camdenton, 2024) and LHP Charlie Kilcullin (St. Dominic, 2024) did the same, each of them emerging as uncommitted follows in the state’s sophomore class.
