Super 60: Missouri recruit. 6-foot, 185-pound right-handed hitting middle infielder, average build with athletic strength. Didn’t showcase flashy, loud tools, but delivered a solid overall performance across the board at the Super 60. Especially at the plate. Balanced, aggressive approach, loose, athletic hands, advanced bat speed. Maintains rhythm throughout, utilizes leg kick trigger, mostly on time, fires off his backside well; gets after it with balance and control. Registered 98 mph exit velocity with wood. Defensively, shows soft, reliable hands, fields with rhythm and pace, plays through the ball well. Above-average range, throws carry, 87 mph across the infield with effort. Ran a 6.94 laser-timed 60.
6/16/15 - Vierling is a 6-foot 170-pound right-handed hitting shortstop in the 2017 class from CBC. Vierling runs a 7.15 60, and posted one of the top exit velo’s of the event at 91 mph. Vierling has smooth load from an athletic stance, linear stride, fast bat speed, level through the zone, consistent hard contact during batting practice, ability to drive ball to both gaps, uses back leg for power. On the infield, had one of the top infield velos of the day at 83 mph. Over-the-top release, momentum towards first base, plays through the ball, clean exchange, quick footwork, arm works from different slots.
6/4/14 - Vierling is an athletic 5-foot-10, 160-pound RHP. He displayed a fastball between 76-79 MPH with late cut. He has a 12/6 curveball between 65-69 MPH with sharp break and a change-up at 71 MPH at fastball arm speed with some sink. He has an over-the-top arm slot and free arm action. Vierling throws with easy effort and stays in line as he gets down the mound.
6/4/14 - Vierling is an athletic 5-foot-10, 160-pound SS. Vierling is aggressive getting to the ball and has the ability to play through the ball. He has quick feet and a quick exchange. Vierling had a position velo of 82 MPH across the infield with mostly accurate throws and loose arm action. At the plate, Mark has an open setup, smooth load, and gets good extension. He has a gap-to-gap approach with good bat speed. He gets good backspin and consistently squared up the ball during batting practice. He has an 83 MPH exit velo.
2/23/14 – Vierling is an athletic 5-foot-10, 153-pound RHP. Vierling showed well for the 2017 class, with a fastball between 75-79 MPH with late cut. He has a 12/6 curveball between 58-60 MPH with sharp break and a change-up at 67-71 MPH at near fastball arm speed with some sink. He has an over-the-top arm slot and loose arm action. Vierling throws with easy effort and stays in line as he gets down the mound.
2/23/14 – Vierling is an athletic 5-foot-10, 153-pound SS and showed to one of the top players in his class. Vierling is aggressive getting to the ball and has the ability to play through the ball. He has quick feet and a quick exchange. Vierling had a top throw of 82 MPH across the infield with mostly accurate throws. At the plate, Vierling has smooth load and gets good extension. He has a gap-to-gap approach with good bat speed. He gets good backspin and consistently squared up the ball during batting practice. He has an 82 MPH exit velo and runs a 4.40 home-to-first.
