10.27.18

Average frame at 5-foot-8, 170 pounds.  Has continued to make big strides behind the plate and in the box.  Right handed hitter is balanced in is setup.  Uses a leg kick and small load down, then  up with the hands to get to his launch.  Short stride.  Works level to uphill in the swing, rotating on the backside.  Stayed gap to gap when on the barrel.  Slight tendency to get long and rollover.  Good rhythm with average bat speed and an exit velocity peaking at 82 mph on this day.  Behind the dish, has good bend through the hips and works low out of the crouch through the ball.  Quick exchange across the chest to a short arm action and high-3/4 slot.  Accurate arm at 72 mph from the crouch with average carry.  Pop times ranged 2.12 – 2.34 in the workout.  Blocked with some ease, keeping the ball within range to recover.  On the infield, the hips play a little higher and the footwork has some effort.  Accurate arm at 77 mph across the diamond.  Ran a 7.78 sixty.

06.20.18

5 feet 8, 170-pound build. Hits from the right side using an athletic, balanced setup. Short stride, loading with some weight shift and a small leg kick. Looks to stay through balls with his barrel working level through the zone and getting extension out front. Shows feel for the barrel working gap to gap with a line drive approach. Exit velocity peaked at 83 mph. Behind the plate he shows soft hands with quick feet and short arm action throwing from an over the top slot. Accurate arm with pop times recorded at 2.10-2.32 and positional velocity peaking at 68 mph.  Lacks carry, but the exchange is consistent with the exchange allowing for rhythm. More comfort in the workout receiving than in game but that can improve as the hands continue to quicken. Average hands on the infield, funneling to the center of his body after catch with a short arm action, throwing from a ¾ slot. Accurate arm across the diamond peaking at 65 mph. Feet can get heavy on routine plays, limiting some rhythm in the transition. Better rhythm on athletic plays. Ran a 7.79 in the 60-yard dash.

06.11.18
Average 5-foot-8, 170 pound frame.  Advanced accuracy behind the dish, putting throws on the bag with pop times ranging 2.14 - 2.19.  Positional velocity of 67 mph from the crouch with an ability to improve carry with increased arm strength.  Quick exchange across his chest works to a short high-¾ slot. Feet can get long, widening the base, but he tends to have good timing in the release.  Does recoil out of the base slightly at times. On the infield, direct routes with some bounce and rhythm in the feet. Presents hands out front, funneling the catch to the mid-section.  Hands tend to work from the right inside hip on the catch. Medium arm swing to a high-¾ release with accuracy. Right handed hitter is balanced and athletic in his setup. Short stride. Good balance.  Average bat speed, level through the zone, with a pull emphasis. Works for extension with some feel for the barrel. Exit velocity peaked at 87 mph. Ran a 7.70 sixty.

08.10.17
Average build in a 5-foot-8, 153 pound frame.  Pop times ranged 2.17 – 2.35 from behind the plate with a positional velocity of 68 out of the crouch.  Some accuracy as the hands exchange in a strong fashion in the middle of the chest.  Good footwork and timing as the body stays through each throw.  On the infield, feet get a little heavier and exchanges become a little longer working a long arm action and over-the-top slot.  69 mph from shortstop.  Right handed hitter is balanced working without a load.  Uses a leg kick and short stride with the bat head working to a vertical position.  Average bat speed, works level through the zone, staying in the middle of the field. Barrel awareness can improve with strength.  Exit velocity peaked at 77.  Ran a 7.95 sixty.

08.23.16
Offensively worked from an athletic stance, short stride, and downward load producing a short inside-out type swing. Good feel for working to the opposite field.  Lacked some head discipline and barrel awareness at times as he worked to get the bat through the zone.  Topped at 71 on exit velocity.  Behind the plate, the 5-foot-7, 149 pounder worked 2.41 - 2.65 with his pop times, using a short, hand to ear, exchange.  From the crouch Bonilla's top throw registered 67mph.  He ran a 8.37 in the sixty.
