Hawke

Hawke is undersized (listed at 5-foot-8, 145 pounds) and lacks the power tool that is an essential component of becoming a high round draft pick. However, he does flash power to his pull side (374’ home run with an EV of 104 mph on Friday) and he’s an elite performer with a high contact bat and better than average defense in center field. Sophomore eligible by age, Hawke also adds plus speed and star power to the Deacons’ offense. He has continued from his fantastic freshman campaign (.380/.502/.465) with increased production across the board this spring, especially with his slugging and ISO (.086 to .146). In the past year he has also made huge strides defensively. Scouts are further endeared by his competitive, gamer mentality.

Body: 5/8, 150 pounds. Athletic build, quickness present.
Defense:  OF-Fluid through the ball, soft hands, catches the ball in front of his left foot, clean transfers. IF-Relaxed, fluid actions, quick feet, above average hands, clean exchanges, quick release.
Arm: .  INF - 79 mph. OF - 83 mph. OF-Accurate with carry, long arm action, high 3/4 slot. IF-Accurate, short arm action, feel for different arm angles.
Hit: . Relaxed, slightly open, hands just below back shoulder. Smooth load, short stride, hands get back. Loose, quick hands, barrel stays through the zone, plenty of barrel feel, line drive approach using the whole field.
Power: 83 mph exit velocity from the tee.  Used wood during BP and game action, made hard contact to center for a hit, above average bat speed.
Run:6.9 runner in the 60. 

5 foot 7, 140-pound build.  Hits from the left side using a tall, slightly open setup.  Hands work back during the load with a short stride.  Simple, fluid swing with balance.  Works gap to gap with a slight uphill path.  Feel for the barrel with average bat speed.  Exit velocity recorded at 82 mph.  Plays athletic on the dirt with fluid feet and average hands.  Short arm action, throwing from a ¾ slot with an accurate arm across the diamond.  Positional velocity topped at 76 mph.  Recorded a 3.91 in the 30-yard dash, 4.66 in the 5-10-5, and 8-7 in the standing broad jump.
