2022 MLB Draft League: XL frame with long levers. Command is an issue, but has above-average raw tools. Fastball has been up to 97, with plus riding action up in the zone. Throws a curveball, that has more of a slurvy shape. High spin offering. Plenty of upside with Roberts.
California commit. Strong, 6-foot-2, 210. Roberts has a wide frame with present strength. Much of his strength comes from his shear mass but he is agile for a young man his size. On the mound, the delivery is a bit unorthodox with some drop and drive action in the lower half to accompany the shoulder tilt while getting out over his front side with solid extension. The breaking ball has good shape but he has some tendency to overthrow it. Roberts arm action may lend more to a slider down the road. He will flash a changeup, but relies primarily on his fastball to overpower young hitters.
