SAN DIEGO, CA – The Desert Oasis (DO) Diamondbacks along with several other Las Vegas high school programs visited the San Diego area earlier in the week to compete in the 69th annual Lyons Tournament.  The difference between the D’Backs and everyone else is they left with a championship under their belt.

DO placed themselves in the winner’s bracket with first and second round wins over Eastlake (CA) and Torrey Pines (CA). They made quick work of Agoura (CA) winning 10-0.  On Thursday in the semi-final vs Newbury Park, the DBacks’s received a complete game effort from USC commit, ’19 DJ Jefferson. Jefferson surrendered just two earned runs and with the help of multi-hit games from ’19 Parker Schmidt, ’19 Campbell Holt, and ’19 Zac Czerniawksi, accounting for 6 of the 7 runs, the won 7-2.

The D’Backs would take on Helix (CA) in the championship game and ride a 13-run third inning to a 15-5 victory. ’20 Colby Smith, ’19 Aaron Roberts (CAL), and ’19 Campbell Holt (USC) all had multi-hit games.  Roberts was honored with the MVP of the tournament after striking out 13 in a no-hit effort against Agoura in the D’Backs third round game. He also hit a 2-run homerun during the tournament.

PBR Nevada congratulates Desert Oasis players, coaches and supporters on their Open Division Championship.
