Santa Clara commit. 6-foot-1, 185 pound frame. A presently mature body with developed lower half provides limited physical projectability. Acting only as a DH, the OF/RHP has not resumed throwing after extensive work this summer.  Souza displays a power setup with high hands and rhythmic movement that leads to an aggressive swing.  His swing possesses some length and lends strength over bat speed, but there is a fair combination of both with good barrel release. He provided power to the lineup driving the ball well with a HR to LCF and a triple off the RCF wall.  The swing length brings some swing and miss potential but pitch recognition was solid.  Souza is not fleet of foot but does run better underway.

10/10/18 - In a limited look on the mound after considerable time off, Souza was 85-89 with the makings of an out pitch in the slider. Souza pitches from a full windup and made quick work of opposing hitters in his one inning of work.
