Physical: Highly-athletic, well put together 5-foot-10, 190lb frame. The recent West Virginia commit ran a 6.73 60-yard dash.
Offensively: LHH - Calm, open stance as the hands started lower with a loose barrel bending slightly backwards. Utilized a leg lift stride to initiate the bat head from a stretched position through a flat, whippy path into the hitting zone. Slotted the hands early, hitting behind the ball with ability to find extension on the front-side. Drove the ball with authority to the pull-side, connected in the lower half with a strong base to operate from. Showed off some twitch, commanding the inner part of the plate en route to a T96 mph bat-exit velocity (doubles power, top of the order approach).
Defensively: The primary shortstop featured efficient footwork, pacing with slight downward, rounded routes towards the target. Fielded off his left side, exchanging quickly and released accurately from a H ¾ slot across the diamond (79 mph arm, handled plays on the run).
6/28/21
Physical: The recent West Virginia University commit stands an athletic, strong 5-foot-10, 190lbs with an easy feel for his body. 7.06 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: LHH - Upright, open stance with the hands operating using slight rhythm off the shoulder; utilized a leg lift stride as the hands stretched backwards into load, launching through a fluid, slightly uphill path into the hitting zone. Clean, connected actions with lots of flow during batting practice, tons of maturity spraying hard barrels from gap to gap, as his best results traveled deep to RCF (power alley). Notched a 92 mph bat-exit velocity and 363 batted ball distance (via Trackman), lifting the ball at a 60% fly ball rate with natural backspin off the barrel. Carried momentum over to game action, lacing multiple extra-base hits around the park. Top of the order/middle of the order considerations moving forward.
Defensively: The primary shortstop moved effortlessly in either direction, gaining ground and leverage on the baseball with a soft glove hand out in front. Feel for pace evident and a medium, low posture kept him on his toes and always moving through the ball, towards the target creating good pace and an accurate, H ¾ slot (80 mph arm, moderate effort). Handled plays on the move extremely well with good flexibility and athleticism that translated all over the field.
10/18/20
Physical: 5-foot-10, 183 pounds; strong, athletic build. 6.76 runner in the 60. Offensively: LHH. Wide, balanced stance with hands starting relaxed down in front of the shoulder; gains some ground with a low leg lift stride while hands load back to a strong launch position. Strong effort in a balanced lower half with quick, strong hands through the zone to a smooth 1 hand finish. Solid line drive / flyball contact with gap to gap pop; peak Trackman exit velocity of 90 MPH. Defensively: Uses prep step; Quick first step with athletic actions and range to both sides. Plays low to the ground with a soft glove and clean transfers; Short arm action to a 3/4 release with carry on the throws. INF - 83 MPH.
