Huge frame with long legs and long arms. Everything moves smooth with good tempo/pace. Doesn't rush his delivery or get out of control. Has a long takeway with his arm at handbreak but he gets to his release point on time and it creates some sneaky velo for the hitter. Has an advanced feel for his breaking ball and understands how to utilize it. Should add more velo as he grows and gets stronger. Makes everything look pretty effortless and keeps all of his pitches around the zone. FB peaked 84, sitting low 80's. curveball 71-74.
Last Chance Preview (October 14, 2017)
Marshall stands from a highly projectable lean pitchers frame at 6-foot-5, 175-pounds with a frame needing more muscle mass. Pitching- Slightly choppy tempo to his delivery, would benefit from a more fluid smooth action, one allowing mechanics to be repeatable. He uses a long arm-swing, clean and quick releasing from a high 3/4 slot, fastball sits anywhere from 81-83 MPH currently, but bet the farm on the velocity climbing as it did from his last event. Worked in a slider with some lateral bite at 71-74 MPH. Uses a long stride with proper direction, upright finish, change-up has fade but a bit firm at 76-78 MPH. Still very raw, but a player on the rise in the 2019 rankings.
Western NY All-Star Game (September 24, 2017)
Marshall stands in at 6-foot-5, 175-pounds with a tall, strong, athletic frame. Offensively- Righty sets up in an open stance with his feet just outside shoulder width. Shows a slight knee bend with an upright torso holding his hands in front of the back shoulder using little pre-pitch bat movement. On pitch, his trigger is a quick knee raise to stride forward squaring up to the pitcher while his hands move back slightly into his hitting position. Shows quick hands to the zone with a level barrel path throughout into a mid-body two-handed finish. Has good lower body rotation getting whole frame involved in swing. Demonstrated ability to hit line drives up the middle and pull slide during batting practice round. Clean, fluid swing with potential. Recorded an exit velocity of 79 MPH. Defensively- Moves well to the baseball. Good separation from glove to throwing hand with an appropriate outfielder arm swing. Could use more of a crow hop action to gain more ground on the throw to help generate more body action. Recorded a positional arm velocity of 77 MPH. Pitching- Sets up on the left side of the rubber with a high leg raise above the hip crease. Breaks down well with good loose arm action with a low ¾ release point. Smooth with his delivery utilizing his whole body throughout the process of the pitching motion with a strong front side. Will only get better and stronger with continued development. Fastball range was 78-80 MPH and peaked at 80 MPH showing good arm side run. Slider was 69-71 MPH with tight action that was consistently thrown for a strike. Change up was 72-73 MPH and showed arm side sink. Can throw strikes consistently and make guys swing. Overall a solid 2019 prospect that could potentially be a two-way player with continued development.
