Physical: Lean, athletic 5-foot-7, 160lb frame with some compact strength found. 7.21 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH - Even stance with a slight bend at the knees; hands showed some rhythm at a controlled start, utilizing a lift and replace stride to initiate a direct, flat path into the hitting zone. Was able to use tight turns and hit the ball hard where it was pitched with above-average feel for the barrel. Posted an impressive 55% line drive rate, mostly through the middle of the field, working up to a 90 mph bat-exit velocity (via Trackman). Recorded a near 320 foot batted ball distance hinting at doubles power available to the pull-side gap when getting the hands extended. Top of the order approach in game action, carrying minimal swing/miss traits in each at-bat.
Defensively: The primary shortstop operated with a quick first step, getting around the baseball using good feet and right-left rhythm at the fielding window; stayed down on the ball at a medium/low posture, funneling inward cleanly with a soft glove hand and releasing from an accurate, high ¾ slot (78 mph arm strength, good pace). Made all the plays and showed handle on the run.
Physical: Lean, athletic 5-foot-7, 160-pound frame with room to fill out as he matures. 7.23 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH. WIde, even stance with the hands above the shoulder in the setup. Utilizes a repeatable leg lift stride with a backwards load to the shoulder in order to initiate his swing. Generated a slightly uphill barrel path through the hitting zone while hitting into a stiff front side, allowing for hard contact to the pull side during batting practice. Recorded a 30% line drive to 40% fly ball ratio per Trackman Baseball with consistent feel for the LCF gap in game action. Displayed some power when contacting the ball out in front evidenced by a 310 feet max distance and 89 mph bat-exit velocity.
Defensively: The primary middle infielder featured a low center of gravity with an understanding of how to get through the baseball at the fielding window. Showcased adequate range and a soft glove hand that played out in front. Smooth hands and feel for pace allowed for sub 4.20 sec plays to be made with consistency during defensive evaluations. Registered an accurate throwing arm across the diamond with ability to throw from multiple high ¾ slots. SS - 74 mph
At the plate, the right handed hitter stands in the box in a tall stance. Crantz will use a slight leg lift for balance and timing before attacking the hitting zone. Short compact swing through the zone. Stays balanced throughout the swing. Defensively, the infielder displayed active footwork. Crantz gets into fielding position with low effort actions. Quick exchange to a mid 3/4 arm slot.
