Second outing in the past week with us. Lean frame with all kinds of projection physically. Pitching- Works fromthe glove side of the rubber with a slight coil hiding his arm action. Low 3/4 slot with some ease to his arm. Repeats his landing, staying closed. Some slight spin off to the 3B side with his finish. Sat 72-74 MPH flashing a slider/slurve at 62-64 MPH. Foundation is present, LHP that will blossom as he matures.
ENY All-Star Games (September 17, 2017)
Persse stands 5-foot-10, 155-pounds with a frame that continues to develop. Pitching- Mechanics show quick-tempo, but sound, tucks is hands back to his left hip before he strides towards home. Long stride, long arm-action with a release from a high 3/4 slot. Fastball sat 71-73 mph but peaked at 75 (up 5 mph from last spring), curveball sat 58-60 with 2/7 shape, at times he gets around it and it becomes more loose. Changeup sat 65-67 with fade. Overall, a young lefty with a high ceiling.
Preseason All-State (February 20, 2017)
Persse, a LHP, stands 5-foot-9, 140-pounds with a longer lower half. He uses a large side-step with a fast-paced tempo, high knee-lift. Arm-action is back, some choppiness, releases the ball from a mid-3/4 slot, slightly closed stance. Fastball ranges 69-70 that stays on a downhill plane. Curveball ranges 61-62 with a more sweeping depth to the pitch, change-up was 64 on one plane.
