Cape Cod: Posted a 3.54 ERA during a solid freshman season as WVU’s setup man, then followed it up with a strong summer in Chatham, recording a 3.24 ERA in 25 innings. Physically imposing at 6-foot-6, 225 pounds, Yehl showed 87-91 mph fastball velocity, but his go-to pitch is a 79-84 mph slider that can really miss bats. He can also manipulate the shape on the slider, and he tinkered with a changeup this summer that could have some promise. Yehl could also take a velocity jump as he adds strength to his lower half, making him a clear prospect of interest as he matures.
Physical: 6-foot-4, 185 pounds; high waisted; long, projectable frame.
Pitching: Builds momentum with a high leg lift and slight turn before getting into back side and driving out to a repeatable release point. Long, fluid arm action to a high 3/4 release. FB: T 87 MPH, 85-86 MPH. Jumps out of the hand and gets on the batter quick coming out of an average release height of 6', release side of 2'2" and 6'2' of extension. CB: 76-77 MPH. Plus pitch with 2-8 shape; average spin of 2560 RPM, average vertical drop of 6.9 inches and average horizontal movement of 15.1 inches. SL: 76-77 MPH. Plus movement with 2:45-8:45 shape averaging 2.2 inches of vertical drop and 17.8 inches of horizontal movement.
Physical: 6-foot-4, 185 pounds. Tall, long lower half with a lean build.
Pitching Delivery: Builds steady momentum with a high leg lift and a slight turn, hands separate from the chest staying in sync with the stride to a consistent release point. Long, loose arm action going back out of the glove and finishing with a 3/4 release. FB: T84, 80-84 MPH. Downhill plane, commanded in the zone. CB: 72-75 MPH. Sharp break with 1-7 shape.
Physical: A projectable lean long frame at 6-foot-4, 185 pounds.
Pitching: the left handed pitcher displayed a repeatable delivery and projectable live arm. The big LHP throws from a loose mid ¾ arm slot. FB has late life. CB has sharp late break down in the zone. Displayed feel for a CH with late fade. The 2022 LHP is a must follow as he continues to develop.
