Shows a quick path to the baseball. Flat bat path throughout the hitting zone. Good use of lower half. Gets full extension after the point of contact. Top exit velocity was 87 MPH. Defensively- Gets himself in a good position behind the baseball before fielding. Has a quick exchange and throws from a high ¾ arm slot. Throws have some carry. Does a good job following his throw. Top throwing velocity was 76 MPH.
Oswego (July 28, 2018)
Solid 5-foot-7 155 pound build for the right-handed hitting 3B/OF. May ran a 4.53 home-to-1B. Offensively- Open setup with feet outside the shoulders; short take back of the hands while floating the front side with a moderate leg kick; stays behind the ball with a short, compact stroke. Line drives to all fields with a raw exit velocity of 82 MPH. Table setter approach with a swing that will repeat. Defensively- Dual defender with an aggressive approach from the outfield; fields outside lead leg with a quick run through, shuffle step; arm strength that peaked at 74 MPH. At 3B, choppy breakdown steps; ranges well to both sides with a quick transfer, short arm action. 2B/3B long term projection. Infield arm strength was 73 MPH across the diamond.
June 2018
Athletic frame, 5-foot-9 165 pounds. Slight open stance with a slight bat wiggle. Hands are quick to the zone with a flat barrel. Slight power projection. Hit a double and a 3 run HR to tie the game early on. Showed an above average arm throwing a runner out at third base from the CF warning track.
Preseason - West (February 19, 2018)
May is a 5-foot-7 145-pound right handed third baseman that ran 8.06 60. Offensively- Stands upright with bat pointed up; quiet timing mechanisms. Short and compact swing with some aggression through the zone.. Hits the ball out in front of the plate and extends well through it. Quick hands and line drive results produce 77 MPH exit velocity. Defensively- On the infield he gets around the ball with proper angles. Transfer is smooth and easy. Puts himself in a good athletic throwing position. Continued agility and first step quickness work will pay off during the long term. 68 MPH arm strength on the infield. In the outfield, controlled approach that is a bit tentative. Fundamental working through the ball with quick crowhop. Arm was 66 MPH.
WNY All-Star Games (September 24, 2017)
The right-handed hitting 3B stands in at 5-foot-6 145 pounds. Offensively- Upright, eve stance with a short load and a vertical bat angle. Uses small leg kick for timing; stays behind the ball with a direct swing path. Sprays the ball around the field; exit velocity up 1 MPH to 79 MPH.Defensively- Square setup with flexion the lower half and slightly upright from the waist up. Angles well to his glove side, can get upright into his throwing motion with an over the top arm slot at 69 MPH across the diamond.
Campus Series-Marist (July 18, 2017)
May stands in at 5-foot-6, 145-pounds with a lean athletic frame. Offensively- Young righty shows promise with a fluid swing with quick hands to the hitting zone. Demonstrated a level barrel path making solid contact with an inside-out swing. Tends to jump out at the ball and will make more consistent solid contact with better timing and more fluid body action including a more aggressive lower half. Will benefit with more added strength and development. Recorded an exit velocity of 78 MPH. Defensively- In the infield shows a good approach and footwork to the baseball. Fluid fielding mechanics with an appropriate funnel into the chest and transition to the throwing hand. Could use more aggressive footwork towards intended target. Moves well left/right and in on the run. Recorded a positional arm velocity in the infield of 70 MPH. In the outfield, gets under the ball well with a quick transition into the throwing hand. Could use more aggressive footwork gaining ground toward the target with a larger arm swing to gain more accuracy and strength. Recorded a positional arm velocity as an outfielder of 63 MPH.
