8/02/20

Physical: Durable and projectable 6-foot, 200-pound frame with an obvious starter’s build on the bump.

Pitching: RHP - Started from the middle of the rubber working from the stretch only, medium leg-lift with good direction towards the plate, front side opens slightly early creating a minor fall off towards the first base side / medium level posture at the land, high effort at release through a quick, high ¾ slot showing a moderate arm circle. FB ranged from 82-84 mph with good spin at 2151 rpms per Trackman Baseball, lived mostly down around the knees with it pairing up a 70-72 mph CB with depth and 11/5 shape to it, upwards of 2150+ spin. Feel for both offerings and attacked the zone early and often, the FB plays with increased velocity at the plate and jumps out of the hand on occasion.

7/06/20

Pitching: Operates from the stretch, leg lift to the waist, gets into his back leg as he strides forward and drives off his backside. longer, quick take back out of a high 3/4 arm slot. FB: Peak velo of 86 MPH, while sitting 83-85 MPH. Locates down with arm side fade. CB: 73-76 MPH. 11-5 shape.

2/20/20

Physical: 6-foot-0, 200-pounds. Strong, athletic build.
Pitching: Works up tempo out of the stretch, High leg lift with slight coil, glove tap for rhythm beforehand separation as he strides out in sync with lower half to a slightly closed landing and finishes with intent through a repeatable release and strong follow through. Long, fast arm action to a clean 3/4 release. FB: T86, 85-86 MPH. Arm side run with ride through the zone. CB: 69-69 MPH. Maintains hand speed with sharp 11-5 break flashing depth. CH: 77-77 MPH. Good sell with feel for the strike zone.

2/23/18

The youngest player in the event was very impressive. Only an eighth grader, but already 5’10”, Mazza turned heads with his 77 MPH fastball. That is extremely advanced for his age and almost at the nationwide average velocity for a varsity player. His mechanics were very clean. Mazza wa also able to throw strikes consistently, showing that he was not overwhelmed by the moment. His curveball was 60 MPH and his change up was 68 MPH.
