Slender 5-foot-10, 160-pound frame, ran a 6.96/60 staying consistent with his time from a year ago. Offensively - loose, fluid swing out of an upright stance, keeps hands back, brings bat on a level path through the zone, full extension after contact, repeatable motion, uses inner knee rotation for an exit velocity of 85 MPH, counter rotation between upper and lower torso will produce more power. Defensively - agile feet, comfortable movements, smooth transfer, accurate arm at 81 MPH.
Preseason All-State (February 20, 2017)
Burlingame stands in at 5-foot-10, 160-pounds with a lean athletic frame. Ran a 6.92 – 60, slightly improved from his previous recorded time of 7.0 in June 2016. Offensively- Lefty sets up square to the pitcher in a wide stance with his feet outside his shoulders. Shows a slight knee bend with an upright torso while he holds his hands in front of his chest.  On pitch his trigger is a quick and short step forward landing on his toe before placing his foot down. His hands move back and up slightly into a good hitting position. Shows quick hands to the hitting zone with level barrel action throughout into a high two handed finish. Good lower body rotation keeping closed on front side and getting hips through to get whole frame involved in swing. Smooth and fluid swing showed line drive potential driving the ball up the middle and pull side. Recorded an exit velocity of 86 MPH, a 6 MPH improvement from June 2016. Defensively- Good athletic footwork getting to the baseball. Shows good crow hop mechanics getting behind the ball to gain ground while making the transition to throw. Nice long arm action with proper release point for an outfielder. Showed good accuracy and strength with throws. Recorded a positional arm velocity of 81 MPH, a 1 MPH improvement from June 2016.
New York Games (June 27-29, 2016)
Stands 5-foot-10, 145-pounds with a lean frame. Ran a 7.0 60-yard dash.  Offensively- Sets up with a wide balanced base and limited movement in the hands. Has a consistent compact stroke and shows great ability to drive the ball to the opposite field very well for a young hitter. Exit velocity was 82 MPH. Defensively- Has good feel for the outfield, working through the ball nicely with clean over the top arm action keeping the ball on a line. Arm strength peaked at 80 MPH. Pitching- He showed versatility to even take the mound with a 75-76mph FB, 64-65mph CB, and a 66-67mph CU. The young lefty swinger, with good bloodlines (Brother Jake is a standout Canisius College Commit in the 2016 class) and great feel for the game is one to keep an eye on in the next year.
