June 25-27, 2018 (NYS Games)

60 Yard Dash:
6.78
Exit Velocity:
81
Positional Arm:
83

Stands 6-foot-2, 170-pounds, appearance is big and physical, frame projects to add strength. Actions are strong up the middle, glove is clean, arm is strong (83 mph) release is fast. Offensively, some lift in swing to his pullside, barrel has a slight inclined path. Bat-speed is loose and easy. Very good looking prospect from CNY.

Preseason - West (February 19, 2018)

Stands 6-foot-2, 165-pounds with an athletic and lean body build that's able to handle more positive weight. Ran a 6.91 60-yard dash showing off premium athleticism. At the plate very relaxed, wide stance, back elbow high, barrel upright, little to no stride on the pitch. Hands are compact and strong, swing path is very fluid with a slight uphill plane, full extension with an 84 mph exit velocity showing signs of power projection. Defensively, very aggressive to the ball from a wide stance, active lower half, fields out in front with an open glove, quick clean funnel, throws from a high 3/4 slot at 78 mph across the diamond, expect that number to rise as the summer months hit. Exciting MIF prospect from CNY to keep an eye on.

Last Chance Preview- Upstate (October 14, 2017)

Left-handed hitting shortstop checks in at 6-foot-2 165 pounds. Offensively- Repeatable line drive stroke hitting it where it's pitched. Slightly open stance with quiet timing mechanisms; stays behind the ball with and aggressive lower half; showed some punch to the opposite field gap. Comfortable in the box. Exit velocity was 81 MPH. Defensively- Low to the ground approach; hands were more in front then back in September. Adequate actions for SS but possible better suited as an athletic 3B in the long term or possible corner outfielder. Accurate arm at 77 MPH across the diamond.

WNY All-Star Games (September 24, 2017)

Athletic 6-foot-2 165 pound SS that hits from the left side.Offensively- Slightly spread stance with feet even; relaxed upper half. Short stroke into the zone with an elongated 2-handed finish smoking balls gap-to-gap. Balanced, repeatable stroke that will play at the higher level. Exit velocity off the tee was 80 MPH. Defensively- Low to the ground, corner infield  setup; creates angles on forehands with hands in on the body when fielding. upright release with a short infield arm action for a high 3/4 slot. Arm strength peaked at 75 MPH across the diamond. Tools are there, continued polish will keep him up the middle.

Campus Series-Oswego  (August 15, 2017)

O’Connor stands 6-foot-1, 165-pounds with a lean athletic build. Offensively-  Slightly open stance, back to even on the pitch. Hands are loose, uses all fields, easy approach in the box, mostly level barrel, smooth and fluid.Exit velocity was  83 MPH (1 MPH off his personal best).  Defensively- Active lower half with smooth middle infield type actions, quick funnel, clean transfer, 78 MPH arm (huge gains in the arm strength department since his first event) to the bag from a high ¾ slot. Starting to emerge as a solid all-around player.

Preseason All-State (February 20, 2017)

OConnor now stands at 6-foot-1 165 pounds, running a 7.39 60. Offensively- Starts narrow and open with hands in alignment with back shoulder. Hang s a leg kick before getting back to even; lack of a take back with his hands creates an inside-out swing path to contact.  Left center results; improved separation with his hands and a more assertive lower half will allow for the barrel to be more direct. Exit velocity was 80 MPH (down 4 MPH from October). Defensively- Stays on the balls of his feet; short choppy steps to the ball. Works through the ball with a slight hesitation as he fields before restarting into his throwing footwork. Was more aggressive at last event but skill set is there. Arm peaked at a much improved 74 MPH across the diamond (+7 MPH from October).

Last Chance Preview (October 30, 2016)

O’Connor, a 2019 left-handed hitting middle infielder, stands at 6-foot-0 and weighs 160 pounds, ran a 7.37 60. Offensively- Starts with an upright open stance hands in front of and slightly above the back shoulder with the barrel of the bat much greater than a 45 degree angle. Initiates the swing with lift of the front foot while the hands remain quiet with very little load and separation. Showed heavy pull side action from the gap to the line, showing more authority to the pull gap. Recorded an exit velocity of 84 MPH on the day. Defensively-  Moves aggressive but showing good body control to the ball. Athletic and fluid movements, fielding the ball out in front of the body from the center to left side. Funnels the ball to chest height where separation is created. During the transfer the hands get a bit away from the body and could be shorter with a more thumbs down type of movement which would create a quicker and shorter transfer. Throws showed good carry and accuracy, recording an arm velocity of  67 MPH.
