Ben Zink: OF/RHP, (2022) Northmont, OH. Wright State Commit, 6-foot-1, 210-pound. In the box, Zink had a max exit velocity of 100 mph. (67.0 mph bat speed average). (22.0 mph hand speed average). Starts in an athletic quiet stance with a quick load, then uses a small leg kick. Bat speed was explosive, had a simple upward swing plane and good extension on his finish. Solid throwing from the outfield, he displayed power in his arm with throws up to 93 mph;showed soft hands, a natural exchange, and consistent feet. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were athletic. Used a high ¾ slot and a quick arm action. The athletic recruit showcased his speed with a sub-seven 60 time of 6.78. Solid on the mound, used a clean arm action with a high ¾ arm angle while showing quick arm speed. Drop-and-drive type pitcher who shows some effort. Downhill shoulders with a strong balance point. Lands open with an athletic finish. Sat with his fastball at 89-92 mph. Had slight running action. (Max spin 1881; Avg 1740). He shows some fading action on his changeup (81-82). Had late tight action on his 10/4 slider (78-79). (Max spin 1828; Avg 1827).

Ben Zink: RHP/OF, (2022) Northmont, OH. Wright State Commit, 6-foot-1, 200-pound. At the plate, Zink's 102 mph exit velocity ranks him 2nd at the event. Starts in an athletic balanced stance with a compact smooth load, then uses a controlled stride. Bat speed was explosive, displayed an upward swing plane and low finish. Advanced throwing from the outfield, he displayed power in his arm with throws up to 91 mph;showed a clean exchange, athletic feet, and soft hands. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were athletic. Showed a high ¾ slot and a long arm action. Established speed as one of his strengths with an efficient 60 time of 6.83. Athletic on the mound, threw from a high ¾ arm angle and had quick arm speed. Drop-and-drive type pitcher and shows easy effort. Showed an athletic balance point. Changeup (82-83 mph), slider (76-79 mph).Sat with his fastball at 86-89 mph. 

Hit: Electric tools, 82.3mph bat speed according to blast with advanced physicality. The combination of the two generated consistent upper 90s exit velos, reaching 100+ a few times, topping at 104mph.
Power: Legit raw power potential.
Offensive Projection: Run Producer.
Field: Completing his well-rounded skill set was a solid showing in the infield. At the D1 level he has a corner lean. Athleticism, ball skills are both there with an absolute rocket for an arm.
Throw: Cannon.
Defensive Projection: Multiple Spots.

Delivery/Scouting Notes: Wright State commit with real stuff. Obvious athleticism with a fast arm and fastball up to 90mph, two sharp breaking ball spun in the mid 70s with the slider touching 80mph, and a more than playable changeup. Going to be a good one for the Raiders.
Fastball: Up to 89mph with the four seam and also will show a two seam in the mid 80s.
Breaking Ball: Two different breaking balls with the slider being the sharper of the two. Both pitches show potential to be above average at the next level.
Changeup: Maintains arm speed on the offering that has heavy run.
Pitchability: Filled it up.

Hit: Two-way prospect who looked the part in the box as well. Athletic mover with an electric stroke. Both strength and bat speed are loud tools. Very imrepssive both measurable wise and result wise. True two-way potential.
Power: Gap abilities with potential for some real power down the road.
Offensive Projection: Run Producer.

Field: In the outfield he played through the ball well with average footwork.
Throw: Showed a fairly quick arm and throws had carry to them. 
Defensive Projection: Corner OF

Body Type: 6-foot 180-pound prospect with a projectable, athletic build.
Mechanical/Delivery Notes: Delivery was overall athletic. Threw from a ¾ arm slot and showed good rhythm and timing on the mound.
Fastball: 78-80 mph fastball with some natural arm side run.
Curveball: 70-71 mph true curve. Showed tight spin and smaller break but it was sharp. Good feel for the pitch. 
Changeup: 73-74 mph pitch with some fade to the arm side.
Pitchability: 3 pitch mix with good command. Curveball was the better of his two secondary offerings. Fastball showed good command to both sides of the plate. 
Role: Starter type with above average stuff and polish for his class. Guy to follow as he adds strength and size with maturity.

Body Type: 6-foot-2, 180-pound strong, athletic frame with still some room to add.
Swing Mechanics: Balanced stance. Uses a leg kick for timing as barrel flows through bat tip movement.
Hit: Smooth load into an aggressive stroke. Impressive body control/barrel awareness with the amount of intent in his swing. Can spray it or turn on the ball with authority. Looked dynamic at times in his round.
Power: 87 mph exit velocity. Obvious athleticism in the box. Hands are fast to the baseball and heavy through contact. High follow here with advanced natural tools and the ability to drive the ball with authority. Do it all type.
Offensive Projection: Run producer.
Run: 7.36 60-yard dash.
Field: Ball skills are behind other tools but he’s athletic enough to grow into an adequate defender out there. Athleticism/Arm plays at all three spots with present ball skills forecasting him in the corners presently.
Throw: 82 mph from the outfield. Shouldn’t be surprised after his performance on the mound that arm plays as a big tool out there. Loose/fluid arm action with already above average strength and more to come.
Defensive Projection: Wouldn’t completely rule out CF but for now looks like a corner guy.
Additional Comments: Zink makes a compelling argument for the most well-rounded/highest ceiling prospect on the Canes roster. Athletic kid with two-way potential. Type of prospect that could easily make his way on to D1 coaches radar.

Liked what I saw from Zink all around. Physical kid with two-way capabilities. At the plate he has a balanced swing with some uphill tendencies. More of a line drive threat than a gap guy now but that will change once he continues to add strength. Corner type in the outfield with big arm. On the mound arm works really well. Got the start in game one and ran the fastball up to 80 mph with two playable secondary offerings.

Ran a 7.34 60-yard dash. A very good athlete who looks the part in the outfield. Actions are fluid and he looks to have feel for the position. Plays through the ball with ease and arm plays at all three positions. Topped out at 82 mph to home plate.  A right-handed hitter that starts in a balanced setup. Uses minimal movement to loading sequence, letting his well above average natural tools go to work. Barrel whips through the zone, finding plane well and getting through contact with ease. Produces impressive pop with a lower effort swing. Talented bat. Top exit velocity was 81 mph. A two-way prospect who brings an athletic presence to the mound. Delivery is fluid and doesn’t require much effort. Ball jumps out of his, registering impressive fastball velocities for class at 75-78 mph. Tends to slow down/drop arm slot a bit on his 64-67 mph changeup. The pitch shows potential and should develop into a playable offering as he matures. Also offers an shape, 11/5 shaped breaking ball at 56-57 mph. A talented prospect to look out for over the next few years with upside at the plate and on the bump.

On the mound, the right handed pitcher uses short arm action with quick, whippy-like arm speed. Tall frame that displays some athleticism. Fastball sits between 74-77 mph. Breaking ball displays gradual 11/5 break at 66-69 mph. Throws a split finger changeup at 60-61 mph. A two-way prospect that ran a 4.66 from home to first. Showed well at the plate. Loading sequence is relatively simple, letting his well above average natural tools go to work. Swing is fluid and efficient as the barrel travels on a level plane. Does a nice job of staying inside the baseball, generating true ball flight with consistent back spin. A line drive type who has more juice to come as he develops physically, already producing an impressive exit velocity of 86 mph. In the infield he is very sure-handed and plays with confidence. Would like to see him create angles to play through the baseball more efficiently inside his funnel. Actions are more athletic on the move and he maintains glove skills laterally. Threw across the infield with 76 mph arm strength. 

A right-handed hitter who is relatively simple mechanically. Uses a short stride for timing, while taking hands back to his shoulder to launch. Swing is compact and works on a level to slightly uphill plane. Natural tools are developing, and he should grow into more pop as he adds strength with maturity. A contact type guy in general with a line drive swing. Showed the ability to use the entire field. In the outfield he plays under control in his approach, using mechanically sound footwork. Plays through the baseball nicely, fielding on his glove foot side. Transitions into throws with fluidity. Throws showed accuracy with developing arm strength.
