2/10/2019

Body Type: 6-foot-3 205-pound prospect with a big frame.

Mechanical/Delivery Notes: Throws from a ¾ arm slot with a smooth, dynamic athleticism to his delivery. Uses hips and lower half well and creates a good downward plane on his pitches.

Fastball: 85-87 mph fastball was mostly true through the zone.

Curveball: 68-72 mph curveball showed good spin and depth with true curveball actions.

Changeup: 73-77 mph changeup showed good depth and maintained good arm speed on the pitch.

Pitchability: Good feel for his three pitch mix. Fastball and changeup paired well.

Role: Showed starter stuff for the high school level. Would probably need velo bump and/or create more swing and miss potential on his secondary offerings to keep starting at the next level.

6/618
6-foot-2, 200-pound. Right-handed pitching prospect with an average build. Clean and efficient delivery showing good direction towards the plate. Uses a long arm action through A high three-quarter slot. Shows advanced pitch ability. Fastball works at 81 to 84 mph and stays true through the zone. Works off the fastball with an Sharp 11 to 5 curveball at 69 to 70 mph. Also flash to change up at 72 to 73 mph.

2/4/18

Laird really impressed off the bump, showing the velocity jump that we’ve been waiting to see over the past year. The right-hander sat 83--85 mph, and shows signs of more to come. A starter type that has feel for all three of his offerings. Curveball projects as an above average offerings. Spins it well, giving it depth as it breaks on an 11/5 plane. The pitch came in at 66-68 mph.  Tossed one of the better changeups of the day, at 72-75 mph. Shows feel for the offering that has late run/dive to it.

1/22/17
6-foot-2, 190-pound prospect. On the mound the right-hander is mechanically efficient and has a lower effort delivery. Arm action is clean with some looseness to it. Sat 78-81 mph with his fastball that showed run at times. Much more velocity in there. Slider was very tight as it crossed the plate at 71-72 mph. Also showed feel for a changeup near fastball arm speed at 73-75 mph. Right-handed hitter that starts in a wide stance. Uses slight inward turn with his lower half as hands drift back in his load. Takes level path to the baseball creating solid contact. Strong, physical kid that should continue to improve as it transfers over to his swing. Top exit velocity of 87 mph. At first base he does a nice job remaining fluid and athletic as he moves off the bag. Creates efficient throwing lanes with his footwork prior to fielding his double play balls. Glove skills and athleticism are both above average tools for the position.

60-yard dash: 7.74
Exit Velocity: 87
Infield Velocity: 76

7/26/16
A very projectable, athletic frame at 6-foot-2, 185-pounds. Fastball was 79-82 mph but expect that number to steadily rise. He is a good athlete on the mound and is very efficient mechanically. Has a repeatable, low effort delivery. Arm is loose and fast. Any strength he adds, along with physical maturity should result to immediate velocity increases. Also spins a tight 10/4 breaking ball. Definite follow in 2019 class.

2/15/16
Very physical prospect for his age at 6-foot-1, 185-pound with an athletic build. On the mound he shows a repeatable delivery with easy effort. Throws with a long and loose back arm action into a high ¾ slot. Fastball sat 75-79 mph. Curveball sits 60-61 mph with some sharpness to it on an 11/5 plane. Changeup sits 71-73 mph. At the plate he showed advanced strength and batspeed for his age. He uses a simple toe turn to initiate his lower half while taking his hands back to load his upper half. Gets through the zone on a level path and registered an exit velocity of 84 mph. A solid defensive first baseman that moves well off the bag and creates good throwing angles to second with his footwork. While throwing across the diamond he showed off 77 mph arm strength. Ran a 4.76 from home to first.
