2/11/18

A two-way prospect that will almost certainly continue to do both once he steps on campus at Lake Erie. A true switch hitter that is almost a mirror image mechanically but does show subtle difference as he pulls the trigger. On this day swung with more intent and had a bit louder pop from the left with more feel/barrel control from the right. Natural tools are above average through the zone from both sides. A middle infielder with athletic actions. Plays fast with a reliable glove. Looks to have twitched up since the last time we’ve seen him, displaying quicker feet and improved lateral mobility. On the mound the right-hander works with an uptempo pace. Delivery requires some effort. Works through a high-¾ slot with obvious arm speed. Fastball stays mostly straight through the zone at 84-86 mph. Spins his 11/5 shaped breaking ball in the zone regularly at 69-72 mph. The pitch has present swing and miss with impressive bit down in the zone. Also spins a true slider with good plane and tight action across the zone at 74-75 mph.

60-yard dash: 6.75

Infield Velocity: 85

Exit Velocity: R86, L85

2/12/17
6-foot-0, 183-pound athletic frame. Miller was a late invite to the event after turning heads by touching 89 mph at the IVL Scout Day. While he is more projectable on the mound he also showed tools that make attractive as a position player. A switch hitter that can make hard contact from both sides of the plate and an above average defender up the middle. At the plate he looks more comfortable from the left side but the right side isn’t far behind. Has the arm to stay on the left side of the infield. Continues to get better on the mound each time that we see him. He throws from a ¾ to high ¾ slot with long arm action. He uses a slight inward turn in his leg kick and shows a repeatable delivery. His fastball ran up to 87 mph, mostly sitting at 85-86 mph with occasional run. His breaking ball is thrown with good arm speed and features late 11/5 break at 73-74 mph. He also mixes in a changeup sold with good arm speed at 75-76 mph.

2/9/17
6-foot, 163-pound prospect. A talented arm is the 2018 class. Showed off a live arm while working through a high-¾ slot. A near max effort guy. Arm action is clean with impressive arm speed. Ball comes out of his hand well with his fastball sitting 85-87 mph, topping at 89 mph. Breaking ball was very sharp at times, showing depth with an 11/5 shape. Also flashed a changeup near fastball arm speed at 75-76 mph. Has some definite arm talent and secondary stuff is impressive, but will need to be in the zone more often moving forward. At the plate he showed a fluid swing from the left side. Bat speed and strength were  both impressive. Creates solid whip through the zone on a level path. Swing is mechanically efficient and creates a ton of energy with his lower half. Has the look of a three-hole hitter. *Normally a switch hitter that only swung from left side due to pulled muscle in back. Looked very impressive in his defensive eval in the infield. Actions are athletic and confident. Glove skills were well above average. Showed impressive arm strength across the diamond.

6/6/16
5-foot-11, 155-pound athletic frame. A talented switch hitting prospect that looks to be more advanced from the right side at this stage. Uses a similar toe turn load to initiate his lower half from both sides of the plate, creating efficient energy into contact. From the left side he is more simple with his hands, remaining compact to contact. From the right side he is much looser with his hands creating more whip through the zone. Registered an exit velocity of 83 mph from the right side and 81 mph from the left and ran a 7.42 60-yard dash. Has great footwork and actions in the middle of the diamond. Arm works on the left side. Aided by a quick release. Gets rid of the baseball. Reached a top velocity of 81 mph across the infield Needs to add strength to his frame. On the mound the righty has a smooth delivery that he is able to repeat. Working through a high ¾ slot he sat 80-84 mph. Also spun a curveball with some sharpness to with an 11/5 shape at 68-71 mph.

2/15/16
5-foot-11, 150-pound athletic build. Athletic ball player that can play multiple positions well. On the mound he shows smooth rhythm and a clean delivery. Three pitch mix with the fastball sitting 81-84 mph. Curveball sits 69-72 mph. Changeup sits 71-75 mph. At the plate he starts in an athletic, slightly open stance. Creates a decent amount of energy through a leg kick load and aggressive stride while keeping his hands simple. Taking a level path with strength and batspeed through the zone he was able to drive the ball to all parts of the field. Reached a top exit velocity of 80 mph. Athletic and mechanically sound behind the plate he showed solid footwork with a quick transfer. Pop times ranged from 2.09-2.19, and he threw with 77 mph arm strength to second base. In the infield he had fluidity to his actions with the ability to make plays on the move. Was able to field the ball out in front of his body and did a good job of gaining ground to first base before throwing across the infield with 80 mph arm strength. Ran a 4.47 from home to first. Continues to show improvement and development making him a great prospect to watch in the 2018 class.

9/12/15

5-foot-11, 145-pound thin, projectable frame with room to fill out. Switch hitter that shows good approaches from both sides. From the right-side he is spread out and balanced. Big leg kick for his load with a flat path and 79 mph exit velocity. From the left side has same set up with good load and flat swing and 80 mph exit velocity with 4.69 speed from home to first. Produced two hits in the game with one going for a double. In the infield he shows good range for his age and tends to field the ball into his body. Throws from a long, high-3/4 slot with effort in his arm and 76 mph velocity across the diamond. Behind the plate he shows good footwork, but pauses on his transfer. Throws from a max effort high-3/4 slot with pop times ranging from 2.11-2.18 and 75 mph arm strength to second.

8/16/15

5-foot-11, 145-pound projectable frame with room to fill out. Switch hitter with similar approaches from both sides. Both show easy leg kick to load and a short, compact swing with a flat path. Ran 7.87-60. Behind the plate he shows a wide base with athleticism receiving the ball. Ok footwork with clean transfer. Throws from a high-3/4 slot with some effort in his arm. In the infield he shows very good range especially for his age. Fields the ball out infront with enough arm strength to play the left side of the infield.

6/30/15
5-foot-10, 140-pound thin, projectable body frame. From the crouch he uses good footwork to get himself squared up and in line on with his throws to second base. He throws with a clean, short arm action coming from a high ¾ slot, showing good arm strength using 75 mph velocity to produce pop times between 2.15-2.21. From the infield he uses pretty good footwork to approach ground balls, playing through the baseball nicely. He throws with a clean, short arm action coming from a ¾ slot, reaching a top velocity of 77 mph across the infield. Switch hitter, from the left-side of the plate he starts from a slightly open stance getting himself squared back up to even before he swings. He loads with his hands back to his shoulder. Swings with a slightly upward bat path through the zone, finishing high with a two-handed follow through and reached a top exit velocity of 74 mph. From the right-side of the plate he uses similar swing mechanics, starting with the same stance as he does from the left-side. Swings with an upward bat path and finishes with a high, two-handed follow through while reaching a top exit velocity of 77 mph. He showed the ability to use both sides of the field during his round of batting practice from both sides of the plate. He ran a 4.78 out of the batter’s box to first base. On the mound he throws using regular effort to his delivery. He uses a straight up and down leg lift and lands in a straight line at foot strike. He throws using average arm speed, coming from a ¾ slot. Uses a three-pitch mix, with his fastball between 77-79 mph. His curveball has some depth to it with 11/5 tilt at 67-70 mph. He threw his changeup using fastball arm speed between 65-66 mph.

2/22/15
5-foot-10, 140-pound prospect with athletic frame. Solid player with advanced skill set for his age. Given size, likely projects best as a middle infielder at this stage. Uses short arm action through high ¾ arm slot. Top velocity of 77 mph across the infield with accuracy. Can really pick it and shows sure hands. Quick feet and plays through the ball. Behind the plate, he showed some quickness to his transfer and maintained good direction with his feet. Pop times typically ranged between 2.06 to 2.18 with a top velocity of 73 mph. At the plate, Miller is a switch hitter. Uses a similar type swing from both side. From the right, he uses a short stride with slight upper-cut path. Overall, compact swing with line drive production. From the left, he is more a slappy, contact hitter. Slight upper-cut path from a shoulder load. Lower half stays in line. Ran a
