The Wright State commit brings an above average skill set across the board. Worked with the infielder and outfielders. Although skill set in the infield is adequate he likely ends up patrolling a corner outfield spot at the next level. Actions are fluid and arm plays at either corner spot, showing accuracy and carry. Swings it from the right side, displaying both strength and speed to his hands. Path is level and he worked through a gap to gap approach. Burick finds the barrel often with the ability to generate backspin regularly.
60-yard dash: 7.28
Infield Velocity: 82
Outfield Velocity: 86
Exit Velocity: 89
8/6/17 A right-handed hitter that starts in an athletic setup. Movements are fluid and well timed. Has obvious barrel awareness as he works on a level path. Bat speed in above average and he has strength through his wrists. Ball jumps off his bat. A gap to gap type bat. Far from his ceiling as he has room to add strength to frame. In the outfield he checks all the boxes. Actions are athletic and fluid. Mechanics are text book and he plays with feel. Has the ball skills of an infielder. Enough arm to play any spot. What level he ends up will determine which spot he fits, in an ideal world he is a well above average corner guy. In the infield he moves well and changes directions with ease. Glove works and actions are athletic. Arm works for all three spots. Very functionally athletic. Probably more advance in the outfield but could be an above average defender at third or second as well. On the bump, the right-handed pitching prospect brings a slim, athletic frame. Uses a slower tempo as he approaches his balance point. Initiates his energy through a chest high leg kick as he pinches the back hip. High to low drive downhill delivery toward the plate. Front foot lands in line with the plate and remains balanced through follow through. Fastball has above average speed with good arm action. Locates his fastball well and tends to stay down in the zone. Uses his curveball which could be his best pitch as his secondary offering. Curveball has solid break at a 11/5 path. Located the curveball well with a solid change of pace from his fastball. Comfortable throwing the curveball in any count and mixed the two pitches in throughout the at bats. 8/1/17 6-foot, 165-pound prospect. At the plate, the right-handed hitting prospect creates timing with his lower half through a leg kick. Barrel maintains momentum through load into launch. A good athlete with feel in the box. Path is level and he gets on plane early. Finds the barrel with ease and gets through contact well. A gap guy with power potential. One of the top uncommitted bats in his class. Drove a double to the wall in game play. High upside at the plate. In the outfield he moves with fluidity and is mechanically sound. Makes it look easy. Plays through well and ball jumps out of his hand. Skill set/athletically he can play all three spots, with foot speed leaning toward a corner guy. In the infield he has athleticism to his actions. Has some bounce out of his stance, getting solid reactions of the bat. First step is quick and lateral mobility is easy for him. Glove is average to slightly above average. Has the tools to play the infield but upside is higher in the outfield. With his bat and defensive versatility he is a low risk, high reward prospect. 60-yard Dash: 7.16 Outfield Velocity: 87 Infield Velocity: 83 Exit Velocity: 90
6/6/17 A right-handed hitter that starts in a tall setup. Looks comfortable and athletic at the plate. Initiates upper half with a barrel tip. Lower half produces solid energy into contact. Path is flat and he created early bat speed. Impressive round of batting practice, driving the ball with authority to both fields. In the outfield he has the look of a well above average corner guy. Plays with confidence and has obvious feel for the position. Arm plays in either corner and was accurate. 60-yard dash: 7.02 Outfield Velocity: 74 Exit Velocity: 88
2/4/17 6-foot, 160-pound frame. Burick has become noticeably more physical since the summer, adding close to 15 pounds of strength. Flashed impressive tools during the workout. Showed off an upper 80s arm from the outfield and an 88 mph exit velocity. Consistently found the barrel in batting practice, showing impressive pop to his pull side. On the mound Burick has a fluid tempo to his delivery that requires some effort. Arm works well with above average arm speed. Spun one of the better breaking balls we saw on the day. The offering has solid depth and drops off the table at 69-71 mph. Changeup showed late run and sink at times.

1/28/17 6-foot, 160-pound prospect. Similar to Troyer, he shows good athleticism (ran a 4.32 home to first). Throws with a max effort type delivery. Fastball sat in the low 80’s, touching up to 84. Breaking ball is tight with late 12/6 break at 68-71 mph. Will continue to become more effective as he finds consistent release point. Reminds me some of Peyton Burdick (Wright State), who was a two-way type prospect coming out of high school. Showed well with his bat as well as in the outfield. Defensively, shows natural feel for outfield position. Feet are light and fluid. Creates good angles and plays through the baseball. Top velocity of 85 mph on his throws using short arm action through high ¾ slot. At the plate, the right-handed hitter uses an aggressive swing with good use of his lower half. Pull power in his swing. Top exit velocity of 88 mph off the tee.
6/6/16 6-foot, 155-pound athletic frame. Has efficient mechanics that should see his 84 mph exit velocity rise as he matures physically. Uses a rhythmic knee pinch load and controlled stride to get his lower half involved. Hands stay loose during his bat tip before getting through the zone on a slightly downhill path. Contact type guy at this point. Ran a 7.59 60-yard dash. Secures the ball well and transfers efficiently. Reached a top velocity of 82 mph from the outfield, but his throws still need to show more carry. A two-way prospect that has a quicker tempo to a delivery that requires regular effort. Has some quickness to his arm and sat 76-80 mph. His 65-69 mph curveball had sharpness to it when in the zone. Also used a slider that had late action to it as it darted across the plate at 70-71 mph.
7/15/15 6-foot, 145-pound athletic build. Right-handed hitter with a spread out stance and balanced. Short, compact swing that needs to finish his swing. Registered top exit velocity of 76 mph and was 4.63 home to first. In the outfield he really shows his athleticism with a good run thru. Throws from an athletic high-3/4 slot with 81 mph arm strength. On the mound he has an uptempo delivery with a quick arm. Throws from a high-3/4 slot with his fastball sitting 77-80 mph. Shows two different breaking balls. His curveball with 11/5 tilt sits 68-69 mph and shows a slider at 70-71 mph with later break.
2/16/15 6-foot, 145-pound projectable frame. From the outfield position he displays good footwork approaching ground balls transitioning into good crow hop mechanics. He has a clean arm action coming through a high-¾ slot reaching a top velocity of 78 mph on his throws. Right-handed hitter with a little leg kick to load and a lot of movement. Late getting his foot down with a flat path and 82 mph exit velocity. Ran 7.26-60. On the mound he shows a simple, compact delivery that he is able to repeat. Direction is good at foot strike and throws from a loose, high-¾ arm slot. His fastball ranges from 78-80 mph with arm-side run. Breaking ball with 11/5 tilt sits 66-68 mph with a solid changeup at 69-71 mph with good arm speed.
9/25/19 Swing Mechanics: Easy leg lift with bat tip for barrel rhythm. Hit: Balanced launch with a slightly uphill path that finds plane early. Has a tendecny to pull of the ball at times but generated true ball flight when he stayed through contact. Pull side approach in BP. Power: Gap abilities. Bat speed is there and expect him to grow into more juice as he adds strength in a college weight program. Offensive Projection: TBD. Much more to come. Run: 7.13 Field: An outfielder that looks athletic throughout sequence. Calm demeanor with easy actions. Throw: Arm is a well above average tool. Ball jumps out of hand with carry through target. Defensive Projection: Corner Outfield.
