Started in a balanced open stance with a smooth controlled load, then used a small leg kick. Has efficient developing bat speed, upward swing plane and high finish. Found some barrels with some loud contact. Up the middle approach. Behind the plate, he made throws to second at velocities up to 71 mph; has sure hands, a quick transfer, and quick feet. produced pop times of 2.09-2.19. Athletic setup. Clocked a 60 time of 7.54 at the event.
Jim Pawley: C/OF, (2024) Thomas Worthington, OH. 5-foot-8, 125-pound. At the plate, Pawley clocked an exit velocity of 81 mph. (59.9 mph bat speed average). (21.1 mph hand speed average). Started in a balanced quiet stance with a controlled load, then used a controlled small leg kick. Has efficient developing bat speed, short simple swing plane and high finish. While catching, his best recorded velocity during throw downs was clocked at 69 mph; showed a clean transfer, consistent feet, and consistent hands. had consistent pop times of 2.18-2.34. Some flexibility and calm setup. Used a high ¾ slot and a quick arm action. During the event, clocked a 60 time of 7.53. (Max spin ; Avg ).
Hit: Balanced stance form the right side. Aggressive swinger with natural whip to stroke. Love the combination of tools, feel and ability to frequent quality contact. One of the better rounds we saw on the day. Bright future here. Top exit velocity of 78mph.
Power: Gap pop with much more to come.
Offensive Projection: Multiple roles.
Field: Short, quick footwork in his approach in the outfield. Uses a consistent tempo. Ball skills are on par for class. Behind the dish he's a talented, young backstop to follow. Good athlete with quick feet and above average exchange abilities. Would bet he's a sub 2.0 guy before it's all said and done. Good clay to mold back there.
Throw: Over the top righty with developing strength.
Defensive Projection: C/OF.
