Josh Morris: C/RHP, (2023) Vandalia Butler, OH. 6-foot-2, 170-pound. During batting practice, Morris recorded an exit velocity of 83 mph. (59.81 mph bat speed average). (18.31 mph hand speed average). Starts in a tall quiet stance with a compact load, then uses a short controlled stride. Has developing efficient bat speed, uphill simple swing plane and high finish. Behind the plate, throw downs to second were maxed at 74 mph; showed developing quick feet, sure hands, and a clean transfer. showed his ability to throw runners out with an efficient pop time of 1.97-2.03. Quiet setup with some flexibility. Showed a quick arm action with a ¾ slot. Recorded a time of 7.46 in the 60-yard dash.  (Max spin ; Avg ). 


6-foot-2, 150-pound thinner, projectable body frame. From behind the plate he showed quickness to his footwork with athletic actions. Clean transfer to release and good arm action through a ¾ slot recording pop times between 1.95-2.04 and a velocity of 69 mph. On the mound he throws with regular effort to his delivery using a vertical leg lift, landing in a straight line at foot strike finishing with his momentum carrying toward home plate. Arm speed has quickness through a ¾ slot. Fastball has good arm-side run at times thrown between 74-77 mph and topped at 79 mph. Breaking ball has an 11/5 shape with mostly gradual sink at 66-69 mph. Changeup is a good offering throws it using fastball arm speed and has a tailing action with sink between 68-70 mph.  Right-handed hitter has a tall stance, using a toe tap trigger for timing, initiating his lower half. Has a fluid load with his hands moving past his back shoulder. Showed the ability to hit the ball to both sides of the field during his round of BP while recording an exit velocity of 86 mph. Ran a 7.55 60-yard dash.

Hit: Uses a toe turn timing trigger during slight back load to hands. Path is downhill with developing natural tools. Showed feel for barrel and ability to generate natural whip through the zone. Worked to both sides of the field in BP.
Power: Much more to come as he fills out athletic frame.

Field: Works out of a mid crouch behind the dish. Fluid actions with an easy tempo. Held his own block/receive wise. Also worked out at third base. Plays with simple actions and quiet feet. Ball skills are developing.
Throw: Tosses it out of a 3/4 slot with solid strength for class.
