On this day the 6-foot right-hander ran it up to 89 mph and was consistently 87-88 mph. Also flashed a changeup that he was able to locate in the zone. Hitters couldn’t get on the fastball and he was able to freeze with the slider. Very impressive outing, striking out four of the five hitters he faced. Stock will be on the rise after this performance.

Long back arm action through a high-¾ slot. Ball jumps out of his hand,offering a heavy fastball and sharp breaking ball. Fastball was anywhere from 83-86 mph with late life in the zone. Breaker moves on an 11/5 plane with present depth and sharpness. Well above average offering.

6-foot, and 195-pound. Arkenburg is a long limbed, sturdy right hander who uses a delivery that requires a little more than moderate effort. Uses a drop and drive style while being aggressive with the lower half and occasionally falling off to 1B. Balls comes out of a high-¾ slot after a long, loose arm action. Fastball showed some arm side run and worked between 81-83 mph. The curveball is a very nice secondary offering. Throw with a near 12/6 shape this pitch is sharp with depth at 70-73 mph. The pitch shows power potential as it is spun tight and feel continues to evolve. With some cleaning up and more efficient use of the lower half a velo jump is to be expected.

Flows through his chest high leg lift into his drop and drive load, landing mostly in line to home plate. Arm is long and loose as it travels through a high-¾ slot. Arm strength is above average for class. Fastball will stay mostly true through the zone at 80-82 mph. Breaking ball is sharp with depth, working on an 11/5 plane at 70-71 mph. Spins the pitch well creating enough depth for deception and action to miss barrels. Completing his repertoire is his 70-71 mph changeup. The pitch shows potential with present run/dive. Should only continue to get better as he looks to have more physical maturation left. At the plate the right-hander that starts in a tall, open setup. Uses a fluid leg kick load while hands move slightly back to launch. Posses a balanced combination of strength and bat speed, both being above average tools. Plane has some natural loft allowing him to lift the ball without sacrificing natural tools. Middle of the lineup type bat. In the infield he uses quick feet, taking direct routes to the baseball. Glove is reliable, making all the plays in his defensive evaluation. Lateral mobility is fringy for the spot.
