6/04/12 5-foot-10, 185-pound two-way prospect. Virginia Tech verbal commitment. Ran 7.28 60 yard dash. Excellent hitter with good shoulder hand trigger. Gets barrel into zone well with backside finish. Uses field very well and occasionally pulls ball. Corner outfield type. As a pitcher, he has aggressive mound presence. Attacks hitters. Gets good arm extensions from both front and backside. Uses moderate arm speed through 3/4 arm slot. Aggressive with fastball, which shows occasional cut and some arm side run, ranging 84-86 mph (We have seen him up to 88 mph). Two types of breaking balls. A cut/slider with good bite at 76-77 mph and a two plane downward tilt with some depth 71-72.
The 5-foot-10, 165-pound athlete has a short, but solid frame. Also recognized as one of the 2013 pitchers at the event, Stoffel also proved to be one of the best outfielders in his class. He is a left-handed hitting and left-handed throwing prospect, who showed 7.34 speed in the 60-yard dash. From the outfield, he needs to quick his exchange, but his loose, high 3/4 arm slot generates a consistent 82 mph velocity. At the plate, he proved to be a gap-to-gap hitter with a level swing path and balanced approach at the plate.
