6/06/18
A 6-foot-3, 195-pound right hander in the 2021 class is very physical for his age and is a definite follow as he continues to mature. A very simple delivery that requires regular effort while staying smooth and easily repeatable throughout. Could benefit from better incorporation of the lower half with more aggression down the mound and as a result would expect to see a significant jump in velocity. Ball comes out of a near over the top arm slot with some deception. Very clean arm action in which the ball stays hidden before it seems to get on top of hitters. Fastball ranged from 76-79 mph while showing occasional ASR. Breaking ball is a big near 12/6 bender with gradual movement at 64-67 mph. One of the most projectable arms at the event who could generate a great deal of buzz in the near future.
1/20/18
On the hill the right-hander uptempo delivery that look athletic and fluid. Arm works well through a high-¾ slot. Generates above average strength and arm speed for his class. Fastball stays mostly straight through the zone at 78-81 mph. Shows signs of more velocity to come down the road. Spins a sharp, 11/5 shaped breaking ball with late bite at 67-69 mph. The pitch was one of the better breakers of the event. A definite arm to follow in the 2021 class with a high ceiling. In the infield he brings well above average athleticism to the first base position. Actions are athletic and hands are soft. Does a nice job of remaining fluid as he plays low through the baseball.
60-yard Dash: 8.01 Infield Velocity: 75
Body Type: 6-foot-4 200-pound prospect with a big, strong frame. Mechanical/Delivery Notes: Throws from a ¾ arm slot. Delivery is very linear to the plate. Could add velocity with increased rotational component to delivery. Fastball: 81-84 mph fastball was mostly true through the zone. Curveball: 67-69 mph breaking ball showed good shape with curveball spin. Good depth on the pitch. Changeup: Changeup mostly hovered around 71 mph with minimal actions. Pitchability: 3 pitch mix, with the fastball and breaking ball showing much more development than the changeup. Role: Currently a starter type with advanced stuff for his class. Changeup development and getting more velocity out of his big frame will decide how far he goes. Hit: Left-handed hitter with a projectable frame. Easy/efficient load that leads to a mostly balanced launch. Obvious physicality. Uphill stroke. Some barrel inaccuracy but when he connects it goes. Power: Physical kid with power potential in there. Could be dynamic if bat speed catches up to strength. Offensive Projection: Middle of the lineup. Run: 8.04 60-yard dash. Field: First baseman with the frame for the position. Moves well over there with fluid actions and feel for the spot. Solid defender. Throw: 79 mph from first base. Shouldn’t come as a surprise with his ability on the mound that arm plays as a big tool across the infield. Defensive Projection: 1B
