A 6-foot-1, 224-pound durable frame with some strength throughout. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from an open, upright, and slightly knock-kneed set-up with some rhythm in his hands. Uses a short load with an arm bar, moderate stride, and late heel plant before launching his hands on an a slightly uphill path with a high finish and good extension, hitting from his front front. In BP, shows a mostly flat approach with occasional lift to the pull side with pop, mostly barrels, 92 exit velo. Runs a 7.33 60. Defensively, shows a slightly off set set-up with his left knee turned in, receives with soft hands taking the ball some before sticking it and showing a simple and deliberate step through to second base on throws. Throws down with a short arm action coming through an over the top slot at 72 mph down to second base with developing accuracy for showcase pop times of 2.21-2.37. 

2/16/19 – Boothe is a big bodied 6-foot-1, 224-pound right-handed hitting catching prospect in Oklahoma’s 2019 recruiting class. At the event, he ran a 7.46 60 and posted an exit velocity of 92 mph, tied for highest recorded at the event. During hitting evaluations, Boothe starts slightly opened, slight knee pinch into load, quiet hands, in line stride, high finish with hands, showed pop to his pull side during batting practice. Behind the plate, he showed clean transfers, quiet hands, over the top arm slot, positional velo of 70 mph, mostly accurate throws, pop times between 2.28 and 2.35 seconds.

Uses a moderate stride and a hand load before launching his hands on a flat path to contact with a high finish. In BP, shows a middle to pull approach with lift flashing some pop, some barrels, 86 mph exit velo. Runs a 7.33 second 60. Defensively, from behind the dish, shows above average hands receiving from a sturdy base with flexibility. Throws with a short arm stroke coming through an over the top slot with accuracy at 65 mph to second base with showcase pop times of 2.21-2.37. In the game, was 0-for-4, but put a few good swings on balls.
