The third annual Preseason All-State Showcase was held at The Grind sports facility in Oklahoma City, OK on Sunday, February 3rd. This one day event featured a completely sold out event of 100 prospects in the 2019-2022 classes from around the state showcasing their skills in front of PBR staff. 

This talented event saw impressive numbers in every category, including 16 sub seven second 60s, eight 90+ exit velos, 10 arms that were 85+ across the infield (top 92), nine arms that were 85+ from the outfield (top 91), four sub two second pop times, and 10 pitchers that were 85+ (top 93)

Catchers

Shon-Claude Boothe C / OF / Mangum, OK / 2019

A 6-foot-1, 224-pound durable frame with some strength throughout. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from an open, upright, and slightly knock-kneed set-up with some rhythm in his hands. Uses a short load with an arm bar, moderate stride, and late heel plant before launching his hands on an a slightly uphill path with a high finish and good extension, hitting from his front front. In BP, shows a mostly flat approach with occasional lift to the pull side with pop, mostly barrels, 92 exit velo. Runs a 7.33 60. Defensively, shows a slightly off set set-up with his left knee turned in, receives with soft hands taking the ball some before sticking it and showing a simple and deliberate step through to second base on throws. Throws down with a short arm action coming through an over the top slot at 72 mph down to second base with developing accuracy for showcase pop times of 2.21-2.37.

Chance Condit C / RHP / Salina, OK / 2021

A 6-foot-2, 220-pound physically advanced frame. Offensively, the switch hitter bats from an upright, even set up. Uses a balanced stance shifting his weight to being slightly back leg heavy from the right side with rhythm throughout. He uses a small stride with a slightly uphill hand path, great extension, and a high finish. From the left side, he starts with a closed, slightly back leg heavy set up still with good rhythm throughout. Has a short fluid load, short stride, and slightly uphill hand path with good extension and a high finish. In BP, shows a middle to pull approach with consistent lift and some pop, mostly barrels, 85 exit velo. Runs a 7.89 60. Defensively, shows slightly offset set-up with his right foot set up deeper than his left. Receiving with quick hands and showing quick footwork to second base for his size, standing up tall out of the crouch.Throws down with a short and over the top arm action, 72 mph down to second base with some accuracy for showcase pop times of 2.2-2.3.

Clay Cross C / 3B / Poteau, OK / 2019

A 6-foot-2, 200-pound proportional and durable frame. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from an open, balanced setup with rhythm throughout. Uses a fluid rocking load, a small leg kick with a moderate stride. Hand path is flat, and at times slightly uphill, with a short, level finish. In BP, shows a middle to opposite field approach from both sides with lots of barrels late in the round and some bat speed, 87 exit velo. Runs a 7.57 60. Defensively, shows a narrow set-up. receiving with developing hands and showing consistent footwork to second base.Throws down with a high 3/4 arm action, 75 mph down to second base and developing accuracy for showcase pop times of 2.09-2.33.

Christian 'Duke' Crossley C / 1B / Mcloud, OK / 2019

The recent Carl Albert JC commit has a 6-foot-2, 218-pound long and durable frame. Offensively, from the right side, the switch hitter bats from an open, front leg heavy setup with quiet rhythm.  Uses a big rocking load to shift weight to back leg, moderate knee knocking stride with a slightly uphill hand path and high finish. From the left side, has a similar setup but hand path is slightly more flat with a lower finish . In BP, shows a gap-to-gap approach with occasional lift and some bat speed, mostly barrels, 87 exit velo. Runs a 7.82 60. Defensively, shows an athletic relaxed set-up  receiving with smooth, soft hands and showing controlled consistent footwork to second base.Throws down with over the top arm action, 75 mph down to second base and some accuracy for showcase pop times of 2.01-2.19.

Grant Ewy C / RHP / Moore, OK / 2020

A 6-foot 0, 160-pound lean frame with lots of room to add size and strength. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from a tall slightly open, balanced, and setup. Uses a rocking load with a short stride, flat hand path, and short finish. In BP, shows a flat and middle of the field approach, nearly all barrels, 79 exit velo. Runs a 7.63 60. Defensively, shows an off-set set-up with right foot deeper than left receiving with soft controlled hands and showing efficient footwork to second base.Throws down with a high-3/4 arm action, 73 mph down to second base and some accuracy for showcase pop times of 2.03-2.28.

Cody Floyd C / 3B / Yukon, OK / 2019

A 5-foot-11, 165-pound lean frame with some room to add strength. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from an athletic, wide stance, weight primarily positioned over the back side, and hands high. Uses a fully body swing shift of his weight, hands syncing up with body and slight leg lift. Has natural lift in the swing, showing good stable transfer through front leg. In BP, shows an all fields and flat approach with some bat speed, mostly barrels, 85 exit velo. Runs a 7.2 60. Defensively, shows a poised set-up, receiving with some jutting motion, but soft hands and showing clean fundamental footwork to second base. Throws down with a tight, over the top arm action, 75 mph down to second base with accuracy for showcase pop times of 2.00-2.19.

Dylan Hammond C / 3B / Jenks, OK / 2021

A 6-foot-170, 170-pound high-waisted frame with a lot of room to grow . Offensively, the left-handed hitter bats from an upright stance with hands tight to the body and weight over the plate. Uses a sliding leg kick and slight counter rotational upper body load with elevated elbow before launching his hands on a slightly uphill path through extension. In BP, shows a gap-to-gap approach with occasional lift, mostly barrels, 79 exit velo. Runs a 7.40 60. Defensively, shows off-set set-up with springy/athletic qualities, receiving with reactive hands and showing quick, tight footwork to second base.Throws down with a short 3/4 arm action, 75 mph down to second base and some accuracy for showcase pop times of 2.03-2.14.

Braden Harper C / SS / Noble, OK / 2022

A 5-foot-9, 160-pound developing frame. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from an even and balanced stance with rhythm throughout. Uses a rocking load with a very short smooth stride. Hand path is slightly uphill into a high finish. In BP, shows an all field and flat approach, best to the opposite field, mostly barrels, 84 exit velo. Runs a 7.21 60. Defensively, shows an athletic slightly open set-up as his right foot is set up slightly deeper than his left receiving with soft hands before sticking pitches and showing developing footwork to second base.Throws down with a high-3/4 arm action, 69 mph down to second base and some accuracy for showcase pop times of 2.11-2.30.

Cooper Harris C / RHP / Choctaw, OK / 2020

A 6-foot-1, 210-pound proportional frame with some strength throughout. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from an open, upright, and relaxed set-up with rhythm in his hands. Uses a smooth load and a moderate leg lift before launching his hands on a flat path to contact with good extension and some natural lift. In BP, shows an all fields approach with occasional lift and bat speed and strength, mostly barrels, 91 mph exit velo. Runs a 7.48 60. Defensively, shows a quite and balanced set-up with flexibility, receiving with elite strong and quiet hands, and showing clean and short footwork to second base.Throws down with a short and over the top arm slot at 81 mph down to second base and above average accuracy for showcase pop times of 1.89-1.98.

Wes Hicks C / OF / Edmond Memorial, OK / 2021

A 5-foot-11, 180-pound durable frame. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from an even, balanced, and athletic set-up with rhythm in his hands. Uses a smooth load and moderate stride before pulling his hands through a smooth and slightly uphill path with extension. In BP, shows a mostly flat and middle of the field approach with occasional lift, nearly all barrels, 81 mph exit velo. Runs a 7.57 60. Defensively, shows a slightly narrow, slightly offset, and quiet  set-up, receiving with strong and aggressive hands. Shows consistent footwork with some quickness to second base, clearing around the plate. Blocks with confidence and athleticism. Throws down with a very short and over the top arm action creating carry at 71 mph down to second base with accuracy for showcase pop times of 2.09-2.14.

Koalton Keller C / Mcloud, OK / 2019

The recent Oklahoma Wesleyan commit has  a 5-foot-11, 175-pound lean frame with room to add size and strength. Offensively, the left-handed hitter bats from a wide and back leg heavy set-up with a crouch and rhythm in his hands. Uses an aggressive hand and body load with a big reverse toe tap before launching his hands on a flat path through extension. In BP, shows a middle to pull approach with occasional lift and some bat speed, mostly barrels, 85 mph exit velo. Runs a 7.27 60. Defensively, shows a wide, flexible, and quiet set-up, receiving with quiet hands, beating the ball to the spot. Shows clean and consistent footwork to second base with some quickness, sitting higher in the crouch.Throws down with a short and over the top arm action with some quickness at 76 mph down to second base and some accuracy for showcase pop times of 1.99-2.07.

Duncan Key C / OF / Homeschool, OK / 2022

A 5-foot-9, 150-pound lean frame with lots of room to add size and strength. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from a narrow and slightly front foot heavy set-up with some rhythm in his hands. Uses a smooth load and long stride before launching his hands on a flat path through extension, hitting from his front foot. In BP, shows an all fields spray approach, some barrels, 78 mph exit velo. Runs a 7.20 60. Defensively, shows a narrow and quiet set-up receiving with average hands and showing some quickness in his footwork to second base, clearing out wide around the plate, above average blocking.Throws down with a short and over the top arm action, 70 mph down to second base  with well above average accuracy for showcase pop times of 2.00-2.12.

Carson Lee C / RHP / Yukon , OK / 2021

A 6-foot, 185-pound proportional frame, . Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from a slightly wide, back leg heavy, and quiet set-up. Uses a big and smooth load and a short stride before launching his hands on a short and slightly uphill path to contact. In BP, shows an all fields approach with occasional lift, mostly barrels,, 82 mph exit velo. Runs a 7.34 60. Defensively, shows a slightly wide, balanced, flexible, and quiet set-up making himself a big target. Receives with will advanced quiet and strong hands and shows consistent and clean footwork to second base, and advanced blocking. Colby Lewis C / SS / Heritage Hall, OK / 2021

A 5-foot-8, 145-pound lean frame with athleticism and some strength. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from a wide and balanced set-up with a slight crouch and some rhythm in his hands. Uses a smooth rocking load and short stride before launching his hands on a flat path through extension. In BP, shows a middle to pull and flat approach, mostly barrels, 82 mph exit velo. Uses a smooth load and short side before launching his hands with well above bats speed on a flat path through extension.
