Watson, a 5-foot-11, 155-pound catcher, is a 2021 grad to follow closely. Behind the plate, he was 2.06-2.19 at the New Year Open, getting off throws up to 73. There’s mobility in his hips, and he’s shown well as a receiver. At the plate, it’s a right-handed swing that works short to the ball with a flat path. He has been up to 83 off the tee in the past, and with physical development will improve in that regard—defensive-first catcher with potential offensively.

11.3.17 - Young 2020 catcher, strength gains remain at 5-foot-10, 130-pounds. Ran an easy and fluid 7.55 sixty. Showed some carry on his throws behind the plate and best pop time of 2.25. Arm slot would get low at times and pushed a couple balls as a result. Footwork and transfers show promise for age. At the plate, hands load straight back off back shoulder, create some distance from body, works to get bat head out front, creates rhythm with lower half and gets the abt started, would pull off at times and can work through baseballs to create more extension and finish on swing. The path gets level with slight uphill path, tools and foundation to work with for the young 2020 right-handed hitting catcher.
