Physical: One of the biggest “risers” at the PA State Games, Bretschneider stands in a physical, but uber-athletic 6-3, 200lb frame. 6.74 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH - Open, upright stance with calm, low hands starting at chest height in front of the shoulder. Utilized a barrel tip with stretch on time with the forward move (leg lift) allowing for rhythm throughout the swing. Launched from a strong position through a slightly vertical, flat path into the hitting zone generating hard pull-side contact during batting practice. Powerful top hand that explodes from contact towards extension; wore out the LCF gap with extra-base hits using consistent 77 mph average bat speed (Blast Motion). Just looked like a complete hitter posting a max of 98 mph bat-exit velocity. Hit tool is very mature and ready to carry over into the rest of the summer/rising Senior campaign at La Salle.
Defensively: Lengthy, rangy defender with early momentum and active footwork in any direction, held above-average pace and a low posture as he funneled from an out front position with his hands back into the stomach area. Accurate, high ¾ slot with ride across the diamond (accurate, 83 mph). The outfielder featured easy positional flexibility after showing off CF qualities and a natural feel for his body in space. Ready glove hand working off the left foot and had no troubles on the move. Throws demonstrated serious carry at 85 mph from his position.

Bretschneider is a 6-foot, 194 pound right-handed hitting prospect. He hits out of an even, slightly open stance, with the hands just off the back shoulder. The load is short and gets him into a good launch position. The stroke is flat through the hitting zone and showed some pull side carry, as evident with a max exit velocity of 94.1 MPH during the batting practice. He also ran an impressive 6.82 second sixty.
Defensively, Bretschneider worked out at third base and showed a good arm at 82 MPH and athletic actions. The feet are light as he works to get into a good fielding position. He’s fluid moving laterally and he works well through the ground ball, staying in line with his target.
I like Bretschneider’s athleticism and versatility. His actions in the infield are fluid, the arm strength is definitely present.
Exit Velocity- 94 mph
INF Velocity- 82 mph

Physical: Demonstrated a solid combination of athleticism and strength throughout the actions in a 6-foot-3, 194-pound frame. 7.21 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH. Open, balanced stance with the hands starting idle at the shoulder. Lands on the toe after utilizing a lift-and-replace stride in which the heel comes down after toe strike in order to initiate his swing. Showcased a powerful, slightly uphill barrel path through the hitting window with an innate feel for the middle of the field during batting practice. Generated hard contact while getting through extension with regularity and hit into a stiff front side at impact. Created advanced hip shoulder separation and long levers helped lift the ball to the pull-side gap during game action. Recorded a well above average 95 mph bat-exit velocity per Trackman Baseball.
Defensively: The primary third baseman played low to the ground with long strides covering ground in both directions at the hot corner. A soft glove hand and repeatable transfers allowed for a whippy high ¾ arm-strength with carry to play well across the diamond towards the target. Got the glove down to the ground and worked from low to through the baseball on the left side of his body. Made the play on the run relatively easily with control in the actions. 3B - 80 mph.
2/16/20
6-foot-2, 185-pound right-handed hitter starts from a wide, slightly open stance and initiates his swing with a lift-and-replace stride. Showcased a steep attack angle and average feel for the barrel. Registered a bat exit velocity of 85 mph and ran a 7.29 60-yard dash. Showcased active feet and a quick release defensively at third base with 84 mph arm strength across the diamond while also showing capable defensive abilities in the outfield.
