Game Performance

Notes

Comments

6/25/24
Uncommitted, 5’11” 167lb athletic, solid frame. Stover impressed on both sides of the ball during our look at him. At the plate, Stover sets up in a fairly neutral position and uses a moderate leg kick as his timing mechanism. Watching the swing, the hand speed immediately stands out. He keeps direction fairly well, using the middle of the field throughout his at-bats, including an RBI single through the middle of the infield. In the field, he showed soft hands with a strong arm and rangy athleticism, making some difficult plays look routine throughout the game. High-motor athlete that has all the tools to play SS at a high level and contribute offensively as well.
2/18/23

Physical: 5-foot-10, 152 pounds; Athletic, slender build. 7.19 runner in the 60.

Offensively: RHH. Even setup, with feet just outside his shoulders; upright bat position. Short take back with the hands with an up and down stride for timing. Stays behind the ball while showing a strong lower half. Showed a downward swing path with a a high finish.  More groundballs than line drives and flyballs with a peak exit velocity of 88 MPH via Trackman. Some pull side power.

Defensively: Starts with a low to the ground setup; uses prep step while playing low to the ground. Hands are out in front with a clean transfer. Short take back from a standard 3/4 arm slot.   INF - 77 MPH. Displayed a quick release with accurate throws.

7/26/22

Physical: Muscular, athletic 5-foot-10, 152lb frame with RTF. 7.18 runner in the 60.

Offensively: RHH. Crouched, even stance, as the hands operate with rhythm to begin. Utilized a short leg-lift stride with advanced feel for the timing mechanism to initiate the swing through a flat, connected path towards a balanced finish. Recorded an easy T87 mph exit velocity during BP and landed two more 90+ over the course of gameplay. Smooth, extra-base hit type approach that doesn’t miss the sweet-spot. Worked up to a 305 foot distance via Trackman.

Defensively: The primary middle infielder featured choppy footwork with clean angles around the ball. Fielded off the middle/left side and carried momentum across the dirt. Made a wide variety of plays with ability to drop down on the run, up to 76 mph from a H ¾ slot.

6/21/22

Physical: Muscular, athletic 5-foot-10, 152lb build. 7.36 runner in the 60-yard dash.

Offensively: RHH. Smooth, upright stance, as the hands begin high from a strong position to hit. Utilized a controlled leg-lift stride while initiating the swing through a flat, whippy path with some bat-speed present into the zone. Did damage all over the plate, landing XBH contact gap-to-gap during BP. Recorded a T88 mph exit velocity (83 mph AVG), up to a 290 foot distance. Immense feel in-game.

Defensively: The primary middle infielder featured quality actions on the left side. Beat the ball to the spot with up-tempo footwork and lower posture in either direction. Added a rhythmic double-play turn as well with arm-strength creeping into the 77 mph range.

3/12/22

Physical: Athletic, strong 5-foot-9, 147lb frame. 7.47 runner in the 60-yard dash.

Offensively: RHH. Slightly open, bent stance, as the hands operated in power position loosely to start. Utilized a controlled leg-lift stride, timed up into footstrike to deliver the barrel through an efficient flat path in the zone. On-plane finish that can create lift at times, XBH approach, and feel to hit for some average. T88 mph bat-exit velocity (82 mph AVG).

Defensively: The middle infielder glided confidently across the left side. Early glove hand presentation and downhill chest at the window, clean transfer, and on its way from a H ¾ slot. Made the play on the run accurately too. Worked up to a 76 mph arm.
