10/8/16 McGarvey closed the door for MSI 2018 Grad National in their 2-1 victory over Elite Squad Underclass Black. He is listed as a catcher first, and he utilizes the short arm stroke seen in catchers to throw a fastball right by hitters at 83-84. The ball jumps out of his hand, and surprises hitters at the plate, as was evident on this day by numerous late swings and misses including three strikeouts in 1.1 innings.

2016 PBR Future Games - Team Mid-Atlantic - was a solid backstop behind the plate for team Mid-Atlantic. Quiet receiver and moved well behind plate. Had one of the best pop times during the event with a 1.96 pop. Hits from an athletic setup. Short path to ball with quick hands. Exit velocity of 85 mph. Quick feet with clean exchange and quick release behind the plate. Catcher velocity of 75 mph.

7/20/16 5-foot-10, 175-pound right-handed hitter. Starts from a square stance and rocks weight back-to-front with a knee-to-knee stride. Body comes forward with stride, while head stays quiet. Creates rhythm with bat waggle and bars front arm some in load. Attacks the baseball, registering an 87 mph exit velocity, and consistently put the barrel on the ball during game play. Defensively, he's a quality receiver and blocker who exhibits good footwork on pop times of 2.06-2.12.
Attacked the zone out of a high three-quarter slot with some effort and arm speed. Slight hip coil and back shoulder tilt over rubber. Fastball sat 81-84 with occasional cut action. Rare curveball that checked in at 63-64 wasn't thrown with the same intent and arm speed.
6/24/15 5-foot-10, 160-pound right-handed hitter. Started from slightly open stance and took a short, controlled stride to square. Body comes forward some with stride, eyes stay relatively level. Lowers hands in load, creating some armbar, which led to him working around the ball. Ran a 7.37 60-yard dash and 4.84 in-game home-to-1B time. Showcased 78-mph exit velocity and 72-mph arm strength during workout. Posted workout pop times of 2.06-2.16. Quiet receiver, soft glovehand, quick exchange and footwork.
11/1/14 McGarvey consistently flashed more-than-respectable-for-his-age pop times of 2.19-2.22 with a 68-mph arm, while receiving and blocking well. Throwing will improve when he gets his feet going faster to sync with his upper half. Offensively, his head and body come forward with his stride, but he takes a short swing path and showed a feel for getting the barrel to the baseball.
6/25/14 McGarvey displayed a slightly open stance and a direct path to the baseball during a solid round of batting practice. The freshman right-handed hitter showed some opposite field power with a double to right field on day two and registered a 73 mph bat exit velocity. McGarvey showcased pop times of 2.19-2.25 on throws of 71 mph from the crouch and should continue to improve as his 5-foot-8, 145-pound frame fills out.
3/30/14 McGarvey showed advanced receiving and blocking skills behind the plate. The 5-foot-8, 140-pound 8th grader showcased pop times of 2.26-2.29 on throws of 68 mph from the crouch. McGarvey hits from a wide stance with some crouch and utilized a firm lower half to create barrel whip. The right-handed hitter displayed a concept of how to hit and the ability to drive pitches to both gaps with a bat exit velocity of 71 mph.
