A fastball with hop has a flat approach angle and visually jumps through the zone. When thrown up in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher swing and miss average. Hop+ of 100 is MLB average.
Fastball
Sink+
A fastball with sink has low backspin and drops through the strike zone. When thrown down in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher ground ball percentage and lower launch angle. Sink+ of 100 is MLB average.
Fastball
Rise+
A fastball with rise has a high percentage of backspin. When thrown up in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher fly ball percentage. Rise+ of 100 is MLB average
Curveball

The highest Edge Score within the given year. Edge Score is a comprehensive score that takes the core-six visual skills into account, providing an assessment of an athlete’s overall visual ability.
The maximum speed, in the direction of home plate, that the wrist is traveling. Measured in meters per second (m/s)
Arm Slot
Angle of the forearm relative to the ground between maximum external rotation (MER) and ball release (BR). Which can be a powerful player comparison metric, delivered in degrees.
Knee Extension Velo
The angular velocity of the front knee straightening after foot plant, which provides indicators of velocity potential. Measured in degrees per second.
Deception
The amount of time that the ball is visible to the hitter, after the instant of front foot strike. Measures in milliseconds.
Hip-Shoulder Separation
The difference in angle of between the hips and shoulders, occurring close to the foot plant. Measured in degrees.
Physical: Athletic, high ceiling 6-foot-2, 175lb frame. 7.00 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH. Upright, even stance with early rhythm at the plate. Utilized a leg-hang with some weight shift into the front side to initiate the swing through a flat, direct path into the hitting zone. Showed off a whippy one-handed finish and slotted the barrel repeatedly for a T87 mph bat-exit velocity during his round. Lofted approach at times, hitting fly balls at a 56% rate via Trackman.
Defensively: The outfielder flashed corner appeal and demonstrated the ability to round the ball with a soft glove hand. Arm-talent stood out amongst his class, grabbing an 85 mph bullet positionally before taking the mound.
Pitching: RHP. There’s some life out of the hand from a simple delivery. Long arms work downhill over the front side at release from H ¾ slot on a 79-81 mph FB. Mixed a developing curveball into the upper-60’s and added a quality 68-70 mph split that he threw with confidence.
2/12/22
Physical: Projectable athlete at 6-foot-2, 170lbs and more to come. 7.24 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH - Open, calm stance with a loose handed start. Utilized a short lift and replace stride to initiate a flat, direct path into the hitting zone. Feel for the top hand, but loses the front side at times. Able to keep the ball on a line using a high two-handed finish on the backside, recording a T83 mph bat-exit velocity during his round. Moderate effort and a singles approach to the pull-side of the field.
Defensively: The outfielder raced downhill with above-average pace. Fielded off his left when rounding the ball, driving the chest over the toes. Funneled cleanly with a smooth exchange, lengthy H ¾ slot at release (78 mph arm, accurate).
Pitching: RHP - The right handed pitcher started off the middle of the rubber with a slow, momentum building delivery. Got to a balanced stack and created good tilt on the ball from H ¾ slot. Athleticism flashing and worked 78-80 mph with some ride traits up in the zone. Mixed a short, 11/5 shaped CB (upper 60’s) and tunneled a low-spin 68-70 mph CH out of the same window.
8/24/21
Physical: 6-foot-0, 155 pounds; Lean, wiry build. 7.42 runner in the 60. Offensively: RHH. Even setup, with feet shoulder width apart; bat positioned at a 45 degree angle. Short take back with the hands with an up and down stride for timing. Stays behind the ball while showing an average effort from the legs. Showed a downward swing path with a high finish. More line drives than flyballs and groundballs with a peak exit velocity of 83 MPH via Trackman. Defensively: Starts with an upright /tall setup; walks into ready position while fluid actions to the baseball. Hands are off to the side with a clean transfer. Moderate arm circle from a standard 3/4 arm slot. INF - 70 MPH. Pitching: Butler uses an arm side setup while using a side step. Belt high leg drive with a slight lean over the belt. Has a long stride landing inline with the plate. Long arm swing while showing some scap load, while working through a high 3/4 slot. Spins off 1B side with finish. FB: Peak velo of 79 MPH, while sitting 77-79 MPH; straight action. CB: 67-68 MPH; showed depth. CH: 69-71 MPH; fading action.
